Kayode Pitan, Ex-Bank of Industry Boss, Replaces Iluyomade At RCCG City of David

The Redeemed Christian Church of God's new pastor of the City of David Parish in Lagos is Pastor Kayode Pitan. He will take over for Pastor Charles Kpandei, who has been acting as the interim pastor since Pastor Idowu Iluyomade was suspended in June.

A report monitored on Cityscoopng confirmed that Pitan has now been officially named as the City of David's current pastor, according to a report by Church Times, which cited a top source in the RCCG.

The decision, TrendscopeNews gathered, was purportedly made by the church's governing council at the just finished annual conference of the RCCG.

Pitan was the Regional Pastor and the Pastor in Charge of the Tabernacle of David in Region 51 before taking on his new position.

Since his appointment, Pitan has been in charge of Region 20, with its main office located in the City of David. As the Assistant Pastor in Charge of Region 20, Pastor Ben Akabueze will take over.

After serving as the pastor in charge of Region 11 in Lekki, Kpandei was temporarily posted to RCCG City of David.

The decision was said to have taken by the governing council of the church during the just-concluded RCCG’s annual convention.

Prior to his new role, Pitan was the Pastor in Charge of the Tabernacle of David in Region 51 and also served as the Regional Pastor.

With his appointment, Pitan now oversees Region 20, with the City of David serving as its headquarters. Pastor Ben Akabueze will step in as the Assistant Pastor in Charge of Region 20. Kpandei, who was temporarily assigned to RCCG City of David, has returned to his previous role as Pastor in Charge of Region 11 in Lekki.

With Pastor Pitan's appointment, Iluyomade's employment at the City of David parish formally comes to an end.

The new parish pastor in City of David is an expert in business. 37 years ago, after completing his graduate studies in the US, he returned to Nigeria and made notable advancements in banking and finance.

Prior to leaving to start his own finance business, which failed in 1993 and cost $3 million, he was employed at Citi Bank.

Beginning in July 2015, he was the Bank of Industry's (BoI) Managing Director and CEO. After five years in charge, he started a second term in 2022 and left in 2023 after President Bola Tinubu reorganized the bank.
