Nigerian Ambassador To Spain, Demola Seriki Dies At 63

Popular Nigerian politician and the Country's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain, Demola Seriki is dead.

Seriki was said to have died in the early hours of Thursday, according to a banner spotted online. He was aged 63.

The banner reads: "Inna lillāhi-wa-inna-ilayhi-raji'ūn

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude to Almighty Allah that we announce the loss of our much loved and admired patriarch, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, His Excellency, Ambassador Ademola Rasaq Atanda Seriki (CON) on December 15th, 2022.

He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Madrid, Spain.

Ademola Seriki was a politician, teacher, businessman and public administrator.

He started his career as clerk at the Lagos City Council. He later proceeded to New York, United State, where he studied and bagged Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degrees in Accounting, Finance & Management from the City University of New York. He also attended Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government, Cambridge Massachusetts where he completed a Senior Executive Education and earned a Certificate in National and International Security.

Prior to his current post, he had previously served as Minister of State for Interior of the Federal Republic of Nigeria between 2009 and 2010, Minister of State for Defence from 2008 to 2009, Supervising Minister for Mines and Steel Development from 2008 to December 2008 and Minister of State for Agriculture and Water Resource from 2007 to 2008.

He was the Otun Aare of Lagos.

Makinde Approves Aides In Deputy Governor’s Office

Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde has approved the appointment of a number of aides who will see to the running of the office of the Deputy Governor, Barrister Abdulroheem Adebayo Lawal.

Those appointed include Barrister Ajibade Hassan Adewumi (Senior Special Assistant, Legal Matters); Mr. Nasiru Ogede Ayinde (SSA Projects); Mr. Badmus Shuaib Adesola (SSA Domestic); Kehinde Joel (SSA Online Media); Mr. Oyedeji Ahmed (SSA Public Affairs); Mr. Ajagbe Yusuff Olatunji (SSA Political); Omolere Omoetan (SSA Media) and Mr. Adebayo Wahab Adewale (SSA Administration).

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Makinde, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, indicated that the appointments were conveyed in separate letters endorsed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun.

The letter indicated that the appointments take effect from December 7, 2022.

The letter read in part: “I am delighted to inform you that the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Seyi Makinde, has graciously approved your appointment.

“While heartily congratulating you on your appointment, which must be seen as a call to service, His Excellency, as well as the Government, expects that you will discharge your duties with absolute loyalty, dedication and diligence.”
