Safe Me Nigerians, My Uncle After My Dear Life - Muyiwa Sunday Awoseye Cries Out

Muyiwa Sunday Awoseye has called out his paternal uncle whose name is Kolawole Awoseye for frequently threatening his life and that of his immediate family over tussle for chieftaincy, Ajarin of Ijarin in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria.

Awoseye made this known when he approached the Ijebu Ode Divisional Police Headquater, on 10th of April, 2020 to officially lodge complaints to the law enforcement officers.
He therefore informed the press on why he reported the matter to the Police. He narrated his many life-threatening ordeal in the hands of Mr. Kolawole. He said:

"I'm here to report one of the members of my father's family who is also my step uncle. His name is Mr Kolawole Awoseye popularly known as K-money. He challenged me at a social gathering concerning the royal title (Baale) that we members of the royal family were contesting for. He knew that I was the closest person to taking over the title from my father that was why he came to threaten me. I reported him to the Mogaji at first. The Mogaji and like 80% of my father's family were in full support of me and that motivated me to carry on with contesting for the title. My step uncle didn't stop threatening me, he went ahead to sell some of my father's properties that were willed to us before he died without anybody's consent. I confronted him about it and he further threatened to take my life if I didn't step out of his way."

He went further saying:
"My step uncle is known to be a troublesome and wicked person and I got scared for my life. The next attack was when I went to inspect one of the remains of my father's land. I met his thugs and they didn't hesitate to beat me up and leave me with injury on my left eye. I don't know what he will do next so I ran out of my house and moved to another apartment."

"As if that wasn't enough, when I went on a trip to Abuja my wife called me sounding very scared on the phone. She was at the filling station on the way from picking out a child from school where he confronted her in front of our child and left deadly threats. My wife also reported him to the police but nothing much was done about it because he denied all the allegations.

“He didn't stop at that, he still continued to threaten through calls and voice recordings. I don't know who to run to again so I went to council members and explained everything to them. The council members made the decision that the position of Baale should be left empty for a period of time so that maybe he will stop coming after me and my family."

"Despite all this, he still keeps threatening me and my wife. We are at the mercy of God and security agency right now. I can barely sleep with my 2 eyes closed."

Ajimobi's burial: We Have No Hand In The Delay- Oyo State Government

The Oyo State Government has strongly denied insinuations that it is responsible for the delay in burying the immediate past governor of the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, who died on Thursday.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, indicated that the insinuations amounted to a wicked lie.

The statement read: "In view of the intense enquiries from news media organisations  regarding the perceived delay in burying the late former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the Oyo State Government wishes to place on record that there is no truth in the rumour making the rounds that the burial is being delayed by the state government.

"The rumour, which is being deliberately spread to give the state government a bad name  and to play undue politics with the dead, initially came by the way of social media gossip, which gained traction to attract the attention of traditional media outfits.

"Several media outfits reached out to the Media Office of the Governor of Oyo State to make enquiries  on this barefaced lie on Saturday.

"Let it be stated clearly that the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has played no role at all in causing any delay whatsoever regarding the burial of his immediate predecessor, Senator Ajimobi.
"The truth of the matter is that the family, through a proxy, approached the state government and sought approval to bury the late governor on a plot of land at Agodi GRA, which is currently under litigation.

"Incidentally, it was the same former Governor Ajimobi who instituted the legal action.

"Governor Seyi Makinde had no choice than to state the facts as they are to the emissaries and turn down the request.
"Governor Makinde, however,  against the established land use rule in Oyo State, gave approval that the family can bury the late governor in his Oluyole Estate residence.

"It is to be noted that the rules guiding land use in Government Reservation Areas (GRA) forbid the burial of bodies in such locations as Oluyole Estate and Agodi GRA.

"Let us also put on record that whereas the family did not follow the laid down protocols in passing information on the sickness and eventual demise of  Senator Ajimobi, Governor Makinde overlooked all that and directed the full cooperation of the government with the family on this matter.

"It can only amount to a wicked lie to insinuate that the incumbent government in Oyo State attempted to obstruct the burial of the immediate past governor."

Ajimobi’s Death: A Tribute To My Political Benefactor, Mentor and Role Model-Bayo Adelabu

We all die. The goal isn’t to live forever, the goal is to create something that will last forever.- Chuck Palahniuk.

It has been a rude shock for me since the death of our amiable leader, H.E Abiola Ajimobi was announced yesterday, 25th of June 2020. Each time I mustered a little strenght and courage to attend to my phone or reply messages, my heart and whole being just failed me over and over again. I tried so hard to wish this away as a bad dream but the reality of it kept staring me in the face. Oga’s passage is just too much of a loss to bear at this time.

A great light has gone out in the world. Isiaka Abiola Akanji Ajimobi was a towering figure in our time; a legend in life and now in death. His fearlessness, integrity, kindliness of nature, thoroughness and unsleeping vigilance in the discharge of his political duties is a reflection of the development he left behind in Oyo state.

You were and will always be my inspiration in politics. That first ever touch that fertilized the ground beneath my political life’s tree; that first ever rose that will forever fragrance my political memories. You were my benefactor, mentor and role model. It is true that “Death ends a life, not a relationship” (Mitch Albom). You’ll forever take a special place in my heart.

You were not just our state party leader and former Governor, you were a unifying factor, strong back bone and enviable symbol of the progressives in the state and indeed the entire country. Your name will go down in history as the most visionary, administrative savvy and development inclined governor we ever had in Oyo state till date. Your political sagacity and statesmanly courage will linger in our memories for long.

We take solace in the fact that you lived a fufiled life worthy of emulation by all. You wrote your name in diamond with your enduring legacies in every facet of politics and governance in Oyo State. The APC family in Oyo State and indeed in Nigeria will miss your wise counsel and political astuteness most especially at this important moment for our party and nation’s history.

I extend my deepest sympathy and gratitude to the entire Ajimobi family for sharing this extraordinary man with us. His life’s work as Governor of our dear state meant long days away from those who loved him the most. And I only hope that the time spent with him these last few months after he left office brought you peace, comfort and fond memories. We wished he could spend more, but his unquestionable creator, the Almighty Allah wanted him more.

When a man has done what he considers to be his duty (consentiously) to his people and his country, he can rest in peace. I believe H.E Abiola Ajimobi has made that effort and therefore, he will rest in perfect peace till eternity.

May Almighty Allah grant us all the fortitude to bear this great loss and grant our leader Aljana Fridaus.

Adieu my leader, Adieu great mentor, Adieu Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi!

Adebayo A. Adelabu, FCA, FCIB
