Nearly A Year After: Oyo Govt Releases Funds To Bury Nigeria's Flag Designer, Akinkunmi

Almost a year after his death, the Oyo state government has finally released funds for the burial of the designer of Nigeria flag, Pa Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi. The spokesperson for the family, Mr. Samuel Akinkunmi, confirmed this development in statement, expressing the family's gratitude to the governor. “This is to notify the general public that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has released funds for the burial of our patriarch," the statement reads. Late Pa Akinkunmi is a native of Abeokuta in Ogun state but lived in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state until he breathed his last on August 29, 2023. He was 87. His remains are, however, still lying in the morgue due to the promise made by both the Federal and Oyo state governments to give him a befitting burial.
