Makinde At Aare Musulumi's Daughter’s Wedding, Admonishes Couple To Always Take Joint Decision

Governor ‘Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has admonished couples to have a vision and always take decisions jointly in order to have a successful marriage.

He urged couples to hold themselves through the situations of life, saying their oneness would always bring greater results.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, indicated that Governor Makinde stated this on Saturday, when he attended the wedding of the daughter of the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta states, Alhaji Dawud Makanjuola Akinola, in Ibadan.

The governor, while congratulating the parents of the new couple, enjoined them to leave the couple to make mistakes and correct themselves without any interference.
He said: "Let me use this opportunity to congratulate you and pray that your home shall be fruitful.

"Simply, my word of advice for everyone here and to the parents of the groom and bride is that you need to leave them to make mistakes and correct themselves. I believe no two marriages are the same.
"So, I will say to Mariam and Abdul-Jeleel that now that both of you have become one, you have to take things easy with yourselves.

"I saw how both of you were dancing while coming in. The coordinated moves in the dance steps have shown that when you both hold yourselves through situations of life, you will make a success out of this union.

"It is twenty-three (23) years that I have also been in this business of marriage and it has not been easy. But it shall be easy for you and may God make you both friends even till old age.
"I want to further advise you that there are so many distractions out there, especially in politics.

We may be friends but when it is time for us to take decisions, we do that separately.

"So, there will be distractions just as I have cited an example among us politicians, but for this union, your decisions must be taken jointly.

"Mariam has her vision, Abdul-Jeleel also has his, but those the visions are now joined together. So, most of the decisions that you will be taking must be taken in unison.

"Finally, those of us looking forward to this kind of goodness, I pray that your own day of joy too will come.

"So, on behalf of all of us, the Government and the people of Oyo State, I want to wish you a happy married life. “The union shall be fruitful and filled with a lot of goodness."

Soun's Reign Was Peaceful - Kolapo Kola-Daisi Mourns Late Monarch

The Oyo South Senatorial district aspirant, Kolapo Kola-Daisi, has offered his condolences to the family of the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi, Ajagungbade III following an announcement of his demise on Sunday.

In a statement made available through his official communications channels, the frontline senatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo South described the late monarch as a peaceful King whose reign will be greatly missed statewide.

It said, "I deeply commiserate with my people of Oyo state, the Oyo State Council of Obas, the immediate family and especially sons and daughters of Ogbomosoland, on the demise of the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III.

My days as a student at the Federal Government College, Ogbomoso, gave me a firsthand feel of Soun's peaceful and colorful reign. He was firstclass by reign and by nature and the entire Yorubaland and the nation will miss him.

May his legacies remain celebrated and may Almighty Allah will grant repose to his soul."

Soun Of Ogbomoso, who ascended the throne in 1973, was 95 years old when he passed on earlier today.
