Popular Nollywood Actor, 'Papa Ajasco' Is Dead

Veteran Nollywood actor, Femi Ogunrombi aka Papa Ajasco, is dead.

His death was said to have been confirmed by a theatre practitioner, Husseini Shaibu, via his Twitter handle on Sunday,

He wrote, “I have just been reliably informed that the ethnomusicologist, former Music Instructor with #NATIONALTROUPE and one time stand in for the 'Papa Ajasco' character on the popular #waleadenugaproduction comic series 'Papa Ajasco' Mr. Femi Ogunrombi is dead."

Late Chief Of Staff Abba Kyari's Daughter, Zainab Weds In Abuja (PHOTOS)


Zainab Abba Kyari, daughter of late Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari and her heartthrob, Mohammed, had their their wedding in Abuja (#zm23).

Mother of the bride, Gimbiyar Jamaare Mrs Kulu Abba kyari was supported by her late husband family and friends during her daughter's big celebration. 


The traditional Kaolo traditional kanuri wedding held earlier in the day on Thursday in Abuja before a grand reception (and wushe wushe) held in the evening at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

President Muhammadu Buhari then today led dignitaries to the wedding nikkah that held this afternoon at the National Mosque in Abuja. The wedding was attended by dignitaries from the length and breath of the North and other parts of the country.

The late Abba Kyari (CFR OON) a Shuwa Arab from Borno state, was the Chief of Staff to President Buhari from 2015 till April 2020, when he died of complications from COVID-19 at 67. He was one of the president's closest allies - which explains why the president threw so much weight behind the wedding.

Rivers Police Nab 17-year-Old Boy For Impregnating 10 Ladies

Operatives of the Rivers state Police Command have arrested a 17-year-old boy identified as Noble Uzuchi, alongside his accomplice, Chigozie Ogbonna, 29, for impregnating 10 ladies as part of running a baby factory.

Aside from Uzuchi, and Ogbonna, the police also apprehended two other ladies, Favour Bright, 30; and Peace Alikoi, 40.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Grace Iringe-Koko, who disclosed the arrests in a statement, said the four suspects operated in Obio/Akpor and Ikwerre local government areas of the state.

While noting that the suspects were arrested following a tip-off, Iringe-Koko said the 10 pregnant ladies have been rescued.

According to the police spokesperson; “On Saturday, January 7, 2023, around 4.45pm, while acting on credible intelligence available to the Rivers State Police Command, C4I Intelligence Unit operatives raided two houses at Igwuruta and Omagwa communities respectively, where victims of child trafficking were being kept. 

“The victims rescued in the operation are 10, most of them pregnant"

The statement further said investigations revealed that when a victim was delivered of her baby, the syndicate leader kept the child and paid her a sum of N500,000, adding that some of the babies previously delivered in the houses had been sold.

She said, “All the victims confessed that they were lured to the illicit sales of children because of the need to meet some financial challenges. A Honda Pilot Jeep, white, was recovered from the syndicate leader.”

The case, Iringe-Koko noted, has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for investigation, and efforts intensified to track and arrest the buyers of the children already sold.


Fire Guts Ibadan Auto Spare Parts Market


A section of Araromi spare parts market in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, has been gutted by fire.

Reports have it that the fire started in the early hours of Saturday.

Confirming the sad incident, the Oyo State Fire Service said the fire which broke out around 2am affected about forty five shops.

General Manager of the State Fire Service, Rev. Canon Yemi Akinyinka, while speaking with DAILY POST on Saturday, noted that men of the command were able to quench the fire around 5 a.m. on Saturday.

Akinyinka, in a telephone conversation said, “Our men are at Araromi Market Agodi Gate since 2:30 a.m. where they are putting of the fire caused by indiscriminate refuse burning.

“The fire was suppressed at 5:00 a.m. Cooling down operation is ongoing to suppress reignition. On my way for on the spot assessment.

“I cannot say specifically the number of shops now, you know it is an emergency. It started in the night. About 45 shops”.
