The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday promised to restore Nigeria’s economy if elected as Nigeria’s president. “When the PDP was in government, Nigeria’s economy was the best and the third fastest growing in the world until the All
Progressives Congress came and destroyed everything. If you vote for me, I will restore Nigeria’s economy”, Atiku told the huge crowd of supporters that gathered at the Mapo Hall, venue of the rally.

In his speech, Senate President, Bukola Saraki reminded the crowd that he followed President Buhari to Ibadan in 2015 and Buhari promised security and other things. While noting that the President has failed as far as his promises are concerned, Dr. Saraki told the supporters in Yoruba that “Atiku can do it”.
Apart from pointing out that Nigeria is now more insecure than at any other time in her history, as well as assurance that the country would be made secure, Atiku also assured them of readiness to address key issues in the region; including decreasing human capital development – particularly in health and education, rising unemployment, income inequality, rising poverty, poor infrastructure, poor inter-state and link roads.
The presidential rally was attended by candidates and members of the PDP from Lagos and all the South West states as well as prominent national exco of the party. Senators Dino Melaye, Ademola Adeleke and Ben Bruce were in attendance. Otunba Gbenga Daniel, the Director General of the PDP presidential candidate’s campaign was also there to ensure all went well. The party’s governorship candidate in Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde was the host.

On arrival Atiku took time to visit the Olubadan, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji Aje Ogungunniso at his palace.
