APC PCC Commends CBN, Buhari Over Extension Of Naira Swap Deadline

The Presidential Campaign Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC has commended CBN and Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele over extension of the naira swap deadline.

APC PCC made this commendation in a press statement by its Director, Media and Publicity, Bayo Onanuga.

The statement reads:

"We want to commend the Central Bank of Nigeria and Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele for listening to the voice of well meaning Nigerians on the exigency  of extending the deadline for change of old N200, N500 and N1000 naira notes to the new ones.

Following difficulties experienced by Nigerians from across the country from getting the new notes via ATMs and over the counter from Banks, many Nigerians especially requested for an extension of  the 31 January, 2023 deadline.

We welcome the 10 day extension of deadline and the additional seven days of grace.

This window will  enable Nigerians especially those in rural and remote areas to have more time to change their old notes and avert the panic that would have followed.

We specially commend Presidential Muhammadu Buhari for approving this extension and for his leadership and statesmanship.

In the same vein, we  praise our presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his forthrightness in addressing the concerns of Nigerians at his campaign rally in Abeokuta last week.

Asiwaju Tinubu didn't take the easy road by shying away from what would have caused serious inconvenience for our teeming masses.

Asiwaju showed leadership and compassion for the welfare of Nigerians, at the most appropriate time."

Tinubu and ghosts of fuel scarcity, new Naira notes | By Festus Adedayo

In a piece I wrote entitled A O M’erin J’oba At Tinubu’s Colloquium (April 1, 2018) I warned that the man who has now become the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was making a strategic mistake in assuming that Buhari loved him. Or that he would probably want to relinquish power to him. Using a famous folklore rendered as tale told by the moonlight in traditional African Yoruba, but which Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s Minister of Works and folklorist/writer, Joseph Odunjo, brought into vivid perspective in his Alawiye Yoruba literature series, I explained how Tinubu, resting his belief on a mistaken belief that Buhari would requite the good done him in making him president, would make a fatal fall.

Using the animal world as a motif, Odunjo told this story which ancient Yoruba belief used to depict gross human deception and how human beings are easily susceptible to and capable of mischief. Represented as a character with power, majesty and acclaim, the mammoth-sized Elephant, the beast, was the untouchable king of the jungle and lord of the manor whose humongous size was a huge bother to other animals in the jungle. Several efforts were made to oust his prowess, to no avail. So, a plot was hatched using his majesty as his destruction. Tortoise, a cunning and serpentine animal, was procured to do the hatchet job. Tortoise resolved that, given Elephant’s size and height, violence would not bring him to his hilt but a seemingly innocuous strategy of deception, praise-singing and bootlicking.

Tortoise then went into the cave of the Almighty Elephant. His message was that, all animals had purposed to make him their King in the jungle. Elephant was to come to the palace adorned in the full regalia of a King. Prior to the day, Tortoise had dug a very deep ditch that could swallow Elephant’s elephantine and mammoth size by the palace. He however decorated it with a beautiful wool carpet worthy of a king’s royal feet, complete with an ornamented chair just at the edge of the royal carpet. Encircling the carpet, all the animals in the town clapped and hailed the new King dressed in flowery royal robe as he walked majestically towards the royal carpet. They cheered the Elephant on, shouting a o m’erin j’oba, eweku ewele. The Elephant, in turn, fascinated by the splendor and cheer, walked majestically to be crowned and fell into the ditch and unto his death.

My conclusion in that piece about the Tinubu-Buhari silent tango was: “The President is thus prepared to play the Tortoise, sing a o m’erin j’oba and fawn Tinubu the Elephant so as to humour his ego. The strategy would be that, by the time it would be too late for Tinubu to make a U-turn, the Hannibal and Chaka the Zulu would lift up his scabbard, draw out his dagger and skewer the flesh of an Elephant who cannot see that he is on a dangerous path.” Is this folklore apt in the description of what is playing out between the duo today?

As they say in legal parlance, the most recent outburst of Tinubu in Abeokuta, Ogun State, last Wednesday has provoked issues for determination. The issues are in the form of rhetoric. You will recall that Tinubu, on a campaign train to the ancient city, had stirred the hornet’s nest when he alleged that the currency re-designation policy of the Muhammadu Buhari government and the current fuel scarcity that has literally turned Nigeria into a Dystopian disaster were orchestrated by a veiled God-knows-who, with the aim of ensuring that he didn’t win next month’s presidential election.

To be sure, the allegation of a conspiracy theory was already in the public domain, long before Tinubu made that allegation. With this final Tinubu affirmation of the ploy woven masterfully in high places against him, the headline of this piece should then have been The Columnist As A Seer. In previous installments entitled Emefiele’s Terrorism Mess (December 25, 2022) and Buhari and Emefiele’s Buga Handshake (January 20, 2023) except for the fuel scarcity addition to the conspiracy theory, I submitted that the Naira re-designation policy could be targeted at the APC candidate.

In Abeokuta last week Wednesday, Tinubu mortally bit the bullet again. In his now familiar drawl, delivered in Yoruba, he hit his bare knuckles on the spatula. “If they like, they can change the ink in the naira note, we will shock them, we will win the election; the opposition (the umbrella party) will be defeated… We will take over the government from them; they are traitors that want to wrest the government from us…We will use our PVCs to take over the government from them, if they like, let them say there is no fuel, we will trek there. They are full of mischief, they want to create fuel crisis, they have started creating fuel crisis…Let the price of fuel continue to increase, they are the ones that know where they are hoarding it. They are hoarding naira notes, they are hoarding fuel, we will vote and we will win,” he told a jubilant but rowdy crowd of supporters. He thereafter revved the people up to a revolution.

The issues for determination from this outburst are tripodal. One is the domain that Tinubu always chooses to rouse Nigerian people to militant action and provoke the beast in them, apologies to Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. Why the choice of Abeokuta? Is it deliberate? Was Tinubu doing this, conscious of the historical signification of Abeokuta or it occurs by mere happenstance?

Second, who exactly were these arrows shot at? Forget the very jejune and I dare say, lacking-creative-acumen press release issued by the Directorate of Media & Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Council. In the statement, it hung on the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) the arrows shot by Tinubu.

“For the records, Asiwaju Tinubu during APC campaign rally at Abeokuta on Wednesday, in his statement, did not mention, blame or accuse President Muhammadu Buhari for the current challenges in the country… (he) was only adverting government’s attention to the sabotage being carried out by some Fifth columnists in the system, possibly working in cahoots with the PDP…Tinubu is aware of the salutary efforts by President Buhari to end the fuel queues, by chairing a 14-man panel…How does an advisory genuinely made by Asiwaju Tinubu to protect and create goodwill for the government of his party become an attack? It can only be so in the jaundiced view of the PDP,” the office said.

But for the dog-eat-dog mentality and saber-rattling deployed as language of communication and accepted as part and parcel of the political language and temperature of Nigeria, the APC PCC should be scandalized nationally by this barefaced cookery. It is a very tame effort at assuming that the Nigerian is a fool and has a very low reasoning capacity. The reasons are obvious.

Was Atiku Abubakar the “they” who wanted to “change the ink in the naira note”? Is the PDP currently in government, to whom Tinubu swore that “we will take over the government from them”? Is Abubakar the “if they like, let them say there is no fuel…they are full of mischief,” and who “want(s) to create fuel crisis” and “are hoarding naira notes, they are hoarding fuel,” to whom he promised that “we will vote and we will win”?

A few days after the Tinubu outburst, media reports claimed that the man, famously dubbed the Landlord of Lagos, made a nocturnal sneak into Daura, Katsina State home of Buhari, in company with three APC governors, on a “fence-mending” with the president. As at the time of going to press, this alleged sneak had not been denied nor, as usual, attributed to the “handiwork of PDP and Labour Party sympathizer” journalists by the Tinubu Ananias and Saphirra clown in the APC PCC. The question I ask is, what is responsible for this sabbatical that honour has taken from political parties’ communication machinery in Nigeria? Methinks that, rather than make mockery of oneself and the decades that one had put into journalism practice, deep thinking should show journalpreneur wolves in sheep’s clothing currently speaking for politicians that they should not allow reversible politicians tarnish what is left of their perceived honour?

Now, was Tinubu right in assuming that “they” are fighting him? I think he was. I had always argued that, rather than basing his political tomorrow on Buhari, Tinubu should have cleaned up his Yoruba home and won its confidence while using it as a bargain for 2023. He rather believed that it was more expedient to do obeisance for the Cow in the hope that he would honour him with his chunky meat. For instance, in another piece I did which I entitled Tinubu the Ap’ejalodo and His Strange Fish Friend, (September 16, 2018) using an ancient tale told in traditional African pre-colony which helped to tame the greed of pre-and post-colonial Yoruba society, as well as any tendency within it to play God, I argued that, as the Yoruba would say, constant removal of perceived bad woods from the log of woods under a cooking pot would boomerang. It was the time Tinubu was said to have made up his mind to remove Akinwumi Ambode. Now that Buhari is playing God with Tinubu’s presidential aspiration, that piece makes sense now for its Karmic significance, doesn’t it?

Even a fool knows that Buhari does not want Tinubu to succeed him. Second is that there is a mutual disdain between the two which both have clothed in shawls over the years. Buhari has, over the decades, built an impregnable moral universe round himself; a universe whose precinct was delineated by him, membership of which he defines from his narrow conception. Tinubu does not fit that definition. Tinubu is also too agitative, too Alutaic, perhaps in the mould of MKO Abiola; too much of a disrupter of long-established rulership codes, in spite of the contradictions of his being a member of that same ruling caste. Atiku Abubakar is a lesser evil for the president and occupiers of his fiefdom to banter with.

The third issue for determination is whether Tinubu deliberately spins those nukes, or they are mere Freudian slips. Mainly used in psychoanalytic theories, Freudian slips, also called paraptaxis, was authored by Sigmund Freud. It is defined as an error in speech, memory or physical actions which occur due to interference from an unconscious or subdued mind with or an internal train of thoughts. You will recall that, in June, 2022, hours before the APC congress, Tinubu had made similar spark where he literally called Buhari out.

Considered a denigration of Buhari, he narrated how, without him and God, Buhari could not have been president in 2015 after he lule-ed three times in his bid for the presidency and had to weep on national television. Tinubu concluded that it was his turn to take over power. It was a daring speech which many thought was derring-do that would finally collapse his presidential aspiration. Unexpectedly, that speech finally became a deus ex-machina of Tinubu’s aspiration, giving it a huge leap, we were told. From that speech was extracted the most notoriously mentioned phrases in social and political discourses of today – O lule and emi lo kan.

Finally, should Tinubu have been making those off-the-cuff outbursts when he knows that he would eventually crawl on his belly like a coyote to beg Buhari? I don’t think so. Is it an effective strategy to tame Buhari with revelations of his nocturnal political gambles so that he can be railroaded from his preference of a successor? Maybe, but in war, which Tinubu’s current quest for the presidency can be likened to, you don’t half-decapitate your enemy. You slash their necks with deft, brutal precision. If Buhari holds the key to Tinubu transmuting from the Lord of Lagos to Lord of Aso Rock, those revelations should have been guided confidentially like a licked bowl of soup which the Yoruba say does not make a pendulum-like swing and sound in the bowels of an elder. Revealing them publicly and seemingly making mockery of an unforgiving General like Buhari could be a fatal blow to his presidential ambition.

Tinubu Takes Campaign To Ogun State, Promises To End Fuel Scarcity

The Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has promised to end the perennial fuel scarcity in the country if elected president.

Tinubu made the promise while addressing party faithful who thronged the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta for the Ogun State APC presidential rally.

The APC candidate was led into the waiting arms of the joyous party supporters who had waited several hours, dressed in various party attires and carrying support banners by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun.

Tinubu in his speech, praised the party supporters for coming in their large numbers to receive him despite the current fuel scarcity across the country.

While stating that he would put an end to the fuel crisis, he described the upcoming election as a revolution, urging the party supporters and indigenes of Ogun State to come out in their large numbers, the same way they did for the rally, on February 25 to vote APC.

Speaking to the youth, the APC candidate all promised to ensure that they enjoy quality education not truncated by strikes, while also making jobs available for them once out of school.

He said, “I guarantee you one thing, there will be student loans, nobody will drop out of university because of school fees; nobody will have to repeat one class for eight years and not graduate, we will make a four-year course four years course.

“A Tinubu administration will create over 1 million jobs in ICT in the next 24 months. The fine and skilled graduates of the Ogun Tech Hub will be able to find work as they continue to contribute towards our overall economic well-being.”

“My industrial policy will carry you to the finish line. My plan is to deploy all available measures, from tax credits and youth employment incentives to tariffs to affordable loans and investment so that your industrial base is strengthened, broadened and widened.

“This will produce more wealth and valuable goods, improving the living standards of all Nigerians. It will also spur such job creation in Ogun that everyone looking for work will be able to find it. We will seek to cut youth unemployment nationwide by a third.

“Here, in industrially active Ogun, the decline in the jobless rate will be even more than that. We shall invest in infrastructure in such a manner that all aspects of your daily lives will be touched. Roads and public transportation will be augmented, reducing traffic congestion and allowing you to go from home to work or to the market faster, cheaper and safer.”

He also promised to bring back to life hitherto dead factories in the state through investments in power generation to make the factories more efficient and reduce down times.

With its proximity to Lagos, the APC candidate promised to create in Ogun State agricultural and industrial hubs, while working with local farmers to increase production and exportation of agricultural produce.

“Rice, corn, plantain cocoa and palm kernels from Ogun will be more actively traded. Moreover, we shall spur investment in agro-allied business to create additional jobs while also generating more income for our local, state and national economies.

“We will support other drivers of value within the start-up ecosystem, including technology hubs and parks. Ogun is truly a place of innovation and growth for it is the home of many great local and international factories including Dangote Cement, Nestle, Lafarge Cement, and Procter & Gamble.

“As we become a nation of producers and not just consumers, Ogun State will play a critical role. We will support the development of the best that the modern digital and IT-driven sectors have to offer. We will provide the complementary infrastructure required for growth, including wider internet connectivity.

“With innovation, courage and creativity, we will harness modern technology to create jobs and provide goods and services that will unlock greater prosperity. By harmonising the National Infrastructure Policy with the National Industrial Policy, we will develop key sectors and spur economic growth. Our goal is to grow our industrial base, encourage industries vital to national development and become a global contender,” added.

Tinubu again didn’t fail to recognize the importance of security in economic and social development, promising to make the nation safe and habitable for all.

He added, “As we work towards achieving overall peace and stability, we will continue to strengthen the economy and renew the confidence in our citizens of a home where they can live and thrive.

“With regard to security, we will ensure that Ogun continues to be a safe and peaceful state. Our security policy is bold yet wise and pragmatic. We shall keep trouble from coming to you. We shall pursue terrorists, kidnappers and criminals where they are.”

Earlier, Governor Abiodun had urged the people of the state to look at the track record of Tinubu, placing him above all other candidates and give him their votes come February 25.

He said, “Asiwaju was a senator, so he is knowledgeable in the area of the country’s laws, he became the governor of Lagos State and transformed it to the biggest economy in Africa. He then brought up successors who have worked on the template he put in place to continue to bring progress in Lagos.

"This is the man that now wants to replicate the same in Nigeria and bring joy on our faces. None of the other candidates can be compared to him in any way."

This was also reiterated by former Ogun State Governor Aremo Segun Osoba who urged the people of the state to make Tinubu replicate all he has achieved in Lagos State.

The rally had in attendance the Vice Presidential Candidate of the APC, Kashim Shettima, Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his wife, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahmaan AbdulRazaq and Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

Also at the rally were Lagos State Deputy Governor Femi Hamzat and his wife, Ondo State Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa who represented Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, former Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel, former interim National Chairman of the APC Chief Bisi Akande, former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi, former Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola and former APC National Chairman who is also the Deputy Director-General of the presidential campaign council, Adams Oshiomhole.

The party leaders who witnessed the rally were APC National Secretary Iyiola Omisore, National Women Leader Betta Edu and National Youth Leader Dayo Israel.

Candidates Should Be Adjudged According To Track Record, Not Where They Are Come From - Tinubu Tells Religious Leaders

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has urged leaders of faiths in the country to champion the cause of justice that would deepen national unity and advance democracy ahead of the February 25 election.

Tinubu also asked religious leaders to desist from efforts by some politicians to substitute sentiments with competence in the run off to the election.

A statement by the Tinubu Media Office said the APC candidate spoke on Sunday evening during a town hall meeting with Muslim leaders from the North East as part of his campaign tour to Bauchi State.

"Our scriptures demand justice of us as believers. May we always honor that demand.

"That principle of fairness and justice also requires that leadership of society should be based on the quality of one’s  ideas, character and accomplishments, rather than on traits unrelated to the ability to lead and govern justly, honestly.

"The recorded history of our faith shows how our Noble Prophet led a plural community. He did not confer special advantage to his own tribe, or clan.

"In many instances he placed others ahead of his own relatives. The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) has set a golden example for us," he said.

He said leaders of faith must act as pillars of unity, rather than agents of division.

"Afraid they cannot win fairly at the ballot, desperate politicians are bent on recruiting otherwise eminent persons to preach hatred against discord. They want servants of God like yourselves to turn against your own convictions. They want you to preach division and stir negative sentiments.

"Please resist these evil-doers and their unholy messages. They seek to enter office by fouling the nation. Too much is at stake to allow such tricks to succeed.

"My request is a simple and fair one. Please focus on a candidate’s record of performance and the quality of his policies."

He said the forthcoming election should not be viewed in isolation, but  as "a continuation of a noble quest and an unjust, unenlightened challenge to that quest".

He reminded the gathering that the APC was established to provide progressive good governance in Nigeria to reshape Nigeria into a more compassionate, just and prosperous home for all, "whether they be rich or poor, famous or unknown, Muslim or Christian".

Asiwaju Tinubu explained that despite challenges and the push-pull effects, progress has been made.

"Terrorists have been pushed back. People have returned to their homes. Farmers are more productive. Though this government has less money at its disposal, it has cared for the poor better than any prior administration.

"We have struggled to place the economy on more solid ground so that we no longer only rely on exporting natural resources but that we gainfully employ more of our people in making things that improve the quality of life for all.

"We have sought to revive the ethical fiber of the nation and to reaffirm the high moral quality of our national purpose," he said.

Tinubu said the election is a continuation of this epic struggle of fairness, progress and hope against their opposites.

"As such, I do not see this campaign as one of personal ambition. I campaign to serve a greater purpose. I campaign to do great things for the nation but not for myself.

"No matter how hard and difficult the opposition stands against our just cause, we will not relent in our pursuit of a better, more tolerant and good united nation. And with the help of Almighty Allah, we know good shall prevail."

Tinubu also charged religious leaders to urge their followers to vote wisely.

"May they vote for the candidate who truly has a vision for a more peaceful, more prosperous Nigeria.

"Let them elect someone who has demonstrated the capacity to deliver that brighter future.

"If elected, my highest priorities shall be the protection of our land and prosperity of its people.  Security and economic progress will form the fulcrum of my government."

Tinubu promised to build on the progress made by the current administration by putting an end to terror, kidnapping and violent crime in the nation.

"To increase prosperity, we must reform the very foundation of our economy by prioritizing innovation and employment of our youths while  discouraging overreliance on imported goods.

"We must become a dynamic economy that can make most of the goods that we need and one where those who want to work can find a good job.

"Under my watch, we will facilitate the quick commercial operation of the Kolmani oil wells. We will pay adequate attention to other important national projects such as the Mambilla Power Project, the AKK gas pipeline project, and so on.

"By dredging the River Niger, we shall revive our inland waterways in a way that promotes trade and commerce within the nation. We cut down on our steel export bill by making the Ajaokuta Steel Company work.

"Most importantly, we will turn our eye to those who think they are unseen or forgotten.

"If elected, my government will work with you, as religious leaders, toward a lasting solution to the almajiri challenge."

Some of the religious leaders who spoke at the meeting included representative of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, Dr. Bashir Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi; Secretary Council of Ulama JIBWIS, Shiekh Dr. Gambo Kyari, and representative of  chairman JIBWIS Bauchi, Sheikh Salihu Sulaiman Ningi.

Participants at the townhall meeting pledged to support the APC candidate and urged him to be just to all Nigerians when elected into office.

The meeting was attended by the APC vice presidential candidate, Senator Kashim Shettima; Jigawa State Governor, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; former governors Ali Modu Sheriff, Isa Yuguda and Mohammed Abubakar, among other chieftains of the party.

"He Still Had Sex With Me While Bleeding", Nollywood Actress Halima Abubakar Resumes Expose On Apostle Suleman

The last may not have been heard of the sex scandal involving a popular Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar and the General Overseer of the Omega Fire Ministry, Apostle Johnson Suleman.

It would be recalled that Apostle Suleman had earlier filed a lawsuit against the ailing actress over defamation of his character, and the actress also countered the suit by sending a video clip of how the stylish cleric sent her 500,000 naira.

However, the controversial actress has revealed in a new development how she bled for several years and lost the pregnancy she had for Apostle Suleman.

Halima also accused the cleric of not keeping to his promise to marry her and being behind an undisclosed life-threatening ailment that had plagued her for years.

In a new Instagram live Video with Comedian Princess, Halima claimed Suleman proposed to her more than seven times during their relationship.

She further narrated that she bled for four years and lost three pregnancies.

“The blood never stopped and he was still having sex with me like that. I didn’t read any meaning to it because I wasn’t a spiritual person and he used to have sex with me during my period so I thought it was normal.

When I lost it, he was crying that I lost his child. You will think that it was real. I got pregnant three times, the last one left me bleeding, I had to take a tablet for it to stop.

”I was bleeding for four years. He was sleeping with me even while I was bleeding, that is the dangerous part of it and he was telling me he can’t sleep with anybody, it was okay because it is me.

The whole thing caught me unaware, I was naive and was not a spiritual person. I did not know if it was love

These are some of the pictures Suleman and I snapped together at a hotel on Valentine’s Day. He even sent me some of his personal pictures. He was 41 years old at the time. I have a printout of the bank transactions between us,” she further claimed during the chat.

Our Foundation Is Celebrating Valentines Day With 300 Widows - CGF President

The Valentine season is the season of love as marked every year across the world. It is a day set aside for humanity to share love, and bring smiles to the faces of as many as can receive love.

This habit of love sharing has been the habit of a self funded and reputable charity organization in Ibadan, the southwest of Nigeria.

Christiana George Foundation was established during the Covid-19 lockdown in Nigeria. It was established to support widows, rape victims, fibroid patients and the girl child. The President of the Foundation, Ambassador Ayo George spoke with journalists recently and had this to say.

“We created the Foundation in 2021, we were just coming out of the lockdown, and we decided, that is my Trustees and I, to lend a hand of support to as many women as we can, seeing that women and children are always the most vulnerable at times of wars or pandemics. So our first outreach was in 2021 during the Valentine celebration, and since then, it became a norm at the foundation to celebrate Valentine as such”. He said.

“In 2021, the foundation reached out to 100 widows, in 2022, the outreach was to 200 widows, and on the 14th of February 2023, the outreach will be for 300 widows. The outreach this year will feature Blood Sugar Tests, Blood Pressure Tests, Breats Cancer Tests and distribution of raw food stuff. We are open to support from well meaning Nigerians that are also willing to celebrate that day with our mothers”. He concluded.

Illegally Employed Workers Remain Disengaged - Osun State Government

Those illegally employed by former Governor Gboyega Oyetola are no longer in the employment of the state government and no amount of blackmail can change that reality,  the State Government has announced.

Reacting to the pocket of demonstration by members of the All Progressives Congress(APC) employed towards the tail end of the last government, the State Government in a statement by the Special Assistant, Community Communications to Governor Ademola Adeleke, Mr Tunde Busari, noted that Mr Oyetola deliberately padded the state payroll with APC members to create stage for deeper financial crisis, conflict and disharmony.

"Those engaging in demonstrations are APC members smuggled into the state payroll by former Governor Oyetola. By virtue of the Executive Order issued by Mr Governor, those illegally employed remain sacked and are no longer staff of the state government. No amount of demonstration and blackmail can change that reality.

"We have the details of plan by APC to deploy its disengaged members for demonstration. However, the people of Osun state are in the know of the whole situation especially the several warnings by the PDP while in opposition. We warned against colluding with Mr Oyetola during those last days when the former Governor was issuing employment letter despite the State's inability to pay staff salaries.

"Those APC members are now playing the script. They have failed from the beginning as this administration will not bow to unjustified demands from those who collaborated to deepen Osun financial woes", the statement noted.

Tinubu Seeks Construction Industry Stakeholders' Support For Infrastructural Development

The Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asíwájú Bola Tinubu, has asked for the support of the Federation of Construction Industry in Nigeria (FOCI) in order to achieve his administration's target of massively developing the country's infrastructure if elected president.

Tinubu made this known during his consultative session with FOCI held at Wells Carlton Hotels in Abuja on Thursday.

"We must work together and collaborate to look at the bottlenecks impeding the realization of the full potential of the construction industry and take realistic efforts to address them," he said.

The APC candidate said he would further the developmental feats achieved by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in the sector.

He said: "God willing, as we assume the mantle of leadership, we shall build an even more prosperous economy. This means additional investment in relevant infrastructure: Roads, Bridges, Rail, Airports, Schools, Power facilities, Hospitals and more. These will enhance efficiency, support industrial growth, spur trade and investment, and improve the Ease of Doing Business.

"My commitment to increase annual Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth will  heavily depend on the quality of the infrastructure we shall build to facilitate and sustain growth in all facets of our national life."

He said his administration would focus on transportation infrastructure, building more roads, rails and improving water transport for easier movement of humans and goods.

"Overall, the transportation sector is valued at NGN37 trillion. Transport activities contributed 1.84% to real GDP in Q2 2022.  Sustaining the political will and technical capacity to move people and goods in a safe, affordable and accessible manner will create a better future for Nigerians.

"We will, therefore, work hard to improve our various transportation systems and, in the process, unlock the value chain of opportunities therein," he added.

The former Lagos State governor said his administration would continue the rehabilitation and expansion of existing federal roads and expressways, accelerate construction of new roads as well as the rehabilitation of existing ones through already established funding mechanisms, including accessing capital markets.

Fielding questions from members of the association, he said he would consider the Construction Bank proposed by one of them, but added the problem of the industry is the paucity of long term funding instruments.

On insecurity, Asíwájú Tinubu said he would confront the problem from all angles including introducing technology, recruiting more personnel into the army and police and engaging in training and re-training of personnel.

He also said," If there is employment opportunities, good education and other opportunities for advancement, security would improve."

On rail infrastructure, he said, "My government will enhance the use of our railways to reduce the cost of moving goods and services across the nation. We will sustain the investments already made by the Buhari administration and deepen ongoing reforms in the sector. Apart from its cost-effectiveness, enhanced rail use will reduce strain and congestion on our roads and expressways thereby significantly lowering the number of vehicular accidents. My administration will also encourage State Governments to build public transportation or metro systems in their capital cities.

"The metros will link with existing national rail lines and revolutionize urban transport in Nigeria. This will boost commerce and contribute significantly to GDP growth."

He added that this was involve promoting greater private sector inclusion and working with the National Assembly to review the organization, structure and operations of the Nigerian Railway Corporation.

He also said his administration would prioritize the completion of critical ongoing national railway projects such as: Lagos – Kano; Benin – Abakaliki; Port Harcourt – Maiduguri; Lagos - Calabar; and Kano – Maradi.

"In addition, we shall deploy technology and security assets to protect travellers and ensure the safety and integrity of our railway infrastructure," he added.

Tinubu further promised that his administration will help decongest Apapa Port by modernising other existing ports.

"I commit to realizing the immense opportunities inherent in the Lekki Deep Sea Port, the first new Sea port in decades, which is more than 90 per cent completed."

Minister of Works Babatunde Raji Fashola noted that infrastructure is the backbone of a nation's economy, adding that if elected Asiwaju Tinubu would continue with the infrastructure rebuilding started by President Buhari.

President and Chairman of FOCI Council, High Chief Vincent Barrah, thanked the APC candidate for honouring the invitation of the body to interact with him, saying his presence confirmed the high regards he has for members of the federation and the importance of the role of the body in the scheme of things in the country.

He said the construction industry is the largest employer of Labour in Nigeria after government.

Also speaking, both the Minister of Mines and Steel Development and Minister of State, Works and Housing, Olamilekan Adegbite and Umar Ibrahim El-Yakubu respectively expressed confidence that the country would be better under Asíwájú Tinubu given his track record of performance as governor of Lagos State.

Apart from the three ministers, others present at  the consultative session were the Minister of Sports and Youths Development, Sunday Akin Dare, prominent legal luminary, Babatunde Ogala SAN and the two deputy president and officers of the federation.

We’ve Done Better For Civil Servants Than Previous Government - Makinde

Governor of Oyo State, ‘Seyi Makinde, has stated that the residents of the state are in for a better life and greater times if he is re-elected as governor of the state in the March 11, governorship election.

The governor, who maintained that he has fulfilled his promises to the people of the state on education, poverty eradication and security in the last 44 months, said that everything he has achieved under Omituntun 1.0 are just the beginning and that more will come under Omituntun 2.0.

The governor added that his administration has done quite well for civil servants and pensioners, noting that his government approved four years promotion arrears left by the immediate past All Progressives Congress (APC) and also paid three years leave bonus arrears.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, on behalf of the Media Committee of the Seyi Makinde 2023 Governship Campaign, indicated that the governor stated this while speaking at Erunmu, Egbeda Local Government, noting that better life is coming for residents of the state, if he is re-elected.

He called on the residents of Egbeda Local Government to vote for him and other candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the National and State Assembly elections on February 25 and March 11.

He named the National Assembly candidates of the PDP in the area as including Chief Luqmon Oyebisi Ilaka as senator respresenting Oyo Central; Hon. Busari Olayemi as member representing Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal Constituency and Hon. Olasunkanmi Babalola as member of the House of Assembly.

The governor informed hundreds of party faithful that his administration has successfully lifted people from poverty to prosperity by sustaining the prompt payment of salaries and pensions to civil servants and retiress for 44 straight months.

He added that the scrapping of N3,000 education levy imposed by the immediate past administration, the distribution of notebooks and exercise books to students and the creation of Amotekun corps to take care of security, were strides achieved by his administration.

He, however, noted that these achievements were in Omituntun Part 1, and that like a season film with many plots, Omituntun 2.0 will usher in greater developments in the state.

He said: "I thank you for the support you are giving to this government since inception. Under Omituntun 1.0, I made some promises on Education. I promised to scrap the N3,000 education levy and I did. I promised our children will be given notebooks, textbooks and kept to it. "And I vowed to organise special extra tutorials for those writing WAEC exam, and we carried that out as well.

"I promised that I would take our people from poverty to prosperity and protect lives and property of our people, because there can be no meaningful economic activities without security, and today, you can feel the impact of Amotekun.

"I am sure you call for their intervention when in distress and they cooperate with you. They have also been cooperating with the federal security agencies.

"We pay workers on the 25th and our pensioners, which the last administration referred to as 'the dead' have been brought back to life and they are doing well under this government, because we equally pay them on the same date.

"This government has awarded the road from Academy through Erunmu junction to Odo-Oba. All of these are being executed under Omituntun 1.0.

“We will fix the road from that junction to the internal part of Erunmu under Omituntun 2.0.”

Makinde, who responded to a video of an opposition politician accusing his government of not paying the deductions of civil servants’ salaries to their cooperative societies, said he has ordered the payment of two months deductions.

"I was watching a video on social media where one of the aides of the past government was saying that I should address the issue of  salary deduction/cooperative of civil servants. Well, about two weeks ago, I approved two months out of five, and was told that it will be paid today or next.

“But I want you to help me ask them why their government failed to promote any civil servant. I can tell you that we were able to implement four years promotion arrears in just one month when we came in.

"Secondly, they didn't pay leave bonus for three years before we got there and we have paid all the bonus for civil servants. All our pensioners were given 10,000 Christmas bonus. Tell them to stop playing blame game if they don't have anything to say,” the governor added.

The governor had earlier campaigned at the Bola Ige International Market, Gbagi, where market men led by the Babaloja-General of Oyo State, Alhaji Y.K. Abass and the Babaloja of Gbagi, Alhaji M.A. Adebayo, hailed the governor for several laudable achievements including the security of the state.

Speaking on behalf of the market men and women, Abass lauded Makinde’s efforts on security, education, health and other critical area.

He, however, asked for the support of the government in the area of the setting up of a revolving loan system to assist his members.

While meeting the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) at the Anglican Church, Oyediji, the governor, who appreciated the church for its support, announced the appointment of an Egbeda Local Government CAN leader, Revd. Oyekunle, as the chairman of the Oyo State Rural Electrification Board, which he promised to put in place at Igboora, a few weeks ago.

The governor equally met with the League of Imams and Alfas in Egbeda Local Government at the Egbeda LG Council Hall and also visited the Al-Haqdeen International Islamic Centre, Kumapayi, Olodo, Ibadan, to pay homege to its founder, Khalifah Sheik Dhikrillahi.

Speaking at the Al-Haqdeen Centre, Governor Makinde declared that the Adogba Central Mosque, Iwo Road, which he built with money from his personal pocket, would be commissioned in two weeks and that after that event, he would move on to the Al-Haqdeen Centre’s uncompleted mosque project, which its founder solicited his assistance for.

Ace Mall Boss, Yinka Afonja Rewards Loyal Staff With Car Gift

“Hard work doesn’t go unnoticed, and someday the rewards will follow”.

The above quote by popular author, Allan Rufus succinctly captured the moment on Thursday, 19 January, 2023, as the MD/CEO of Ace Mall, Mr. Yinka Afonja presented a brand new car gift to his outstanding staff, Miss Fatoki Grace Adenike. The event held at the newly opened Ace Mall Oluyole, Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State.

It was such a surprise, not only to the recipient but all staff members of the company because no one saw it coming.

“This will definitely spur other employees in no small measure to be more committed,” Afonja noted.

The noble gesture, according to Afonja, was a move to reward excellence and dedication to duty. As demonstrated by the recipient over the years that she’s been working with the company.

Speaking further during the presentation, Afonja disclosed that the exercise was just another edition of the gesture which has being in place for years. Noting that several staff members had benefitted from the car gift initiative.

He said: “This obviously is not the first time we’ll be doing this, we have given out several cars. But before now it’s been going to the market phasing unit, mostly branch managers. So this is the first time an head office staff would be getting it. It is well deserved. Even more than well deserved because Nike has been Chief Admin, the central admin of Ace. She is not just loyal, she is very hardworking. She is very dedicated and loyal to the organisation. She is honest too. She is an asset anywhere she goes. And when people put in that kind of efforts, they are actually sowing the seeds for their own future. Because when you serve others well, there is a way the whole universe come to support you to start your own. So, that basically is why we have decided to always reward our hardworking and loyal staff, as we have done to Nike today. Not only to celebrate excellence but also to encourage others.”

In her response, the recipient (Nike) was full of smiles and profound appreciation and promised to continue in giving her best to the organisation.

Ace Mall is a one-stop shopping centre with different phases like Cinema, Boutique, Eatery, Bakery, Salon, Spa, Kiddies Fun Park, Arcade, Swimming Pool, Bar/lounge and Supermarket.

The mall has branches across the major cities in South West with over 1000 staff, making Yinka Afonja a big time employer of labour.

2023: Makinde Takes Campaign To Lagelu, Promises To Localise Industries In The Zone

Oyo State governor, 'Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday, took his campaign tour of local governments to Lagelu Local Government, where he declared that his administration will localise industries in the area if re-elected.

The governor said that doing so would help to boost the state’s economy.

While addressing the traditional council of the local government in Lalupon, Governor Makinde berated how notable industries such as the Nigerian Gas Cylinder, Exide Battery, Leyland, among others, have gone moribund in the local government, saying there was the need to revive industrialisation in the local government and that his government would see to that under Omituntun 2.0.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, indicated that the governor appreciated the traditional rulers for supporting his government since he was sworn-in as the governor of the state.

He pledged to follow due process and promote lower grade Baales that are due for promotion in the state, in line with the request of the traditional council.

Speaking on the reconstruction of the  91km Ibadan-Iwo-Osogbo Road, which is to be jointly executed by Oyo and Osun states, Governor Makinde declared that the contractor would move to site within the next three weeks.

The governor also expressed concern over the poor state of energy supply to the area, promising that the issue shall be solved in due cause.

The governor, who also met with the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the League of Imams and Alfas and the traditional worshippers in Lagelu Local Government at different locations, reiterated that he will continue to be fair to all religious bodies.

He said: “I thank you for the support you gave me since this government started.

“I have noted all your requests and I can assure you that most of the issues will be sorted out, as we are also aware of them. You talked about the issue of beaded crowns but I will say that those who planned to reform our traditional institutions made a mistake. And my stand is, no matter how influential a governor is, he cannot understand some internal issues.

“No governor can reform traditional institution because it has to come from inside. This was the same thing I told them at Akinyele. We need to go back to the drawing board and reverse the status quo.

“If the reform is to be done, all of you must agree to it because it must be done internally, and when you are done, bring it to me for approval.

“Concerning the issue of percentage for traditional leaders, since I came in, we have never defaulted in payment of salaries to you, though it may actually not be enough. For us, we have ensured that the traditional rulers also get paid the same day civil servants get their salary.

“On the issue of whether it is gross or net, one thing I can promise is that we will look at it and see if we can even pay up to 10 per cent and we will do it and pay it before the end of this tenure.

“You also tabled the matter of those who are due for an upgrade. The local government chairman is supposed to run it through the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy titles. I can tell you that I have not seen any file on that and I believe there is a process to be followed on the matter. Once that is done and it the file gets to me, I assure you that I will sign it.”

The governor, who visited the home of popular Ibadan politician, Alhaji Busari Adelakun popularly known as Eruobodo, also said his government would look into the request on electricity supply to Ejioku.

Speaking further on the Ibadan-Iwo Road, the governor said “we have awarded the road and you witnessed it when we flagged it off in Osogbo but government changed in Osun State after then.

“We are still waiting for the new government to settle down and engage us.”

Governor Makinde, who rallied residents of Lagelu Local Government to vote for all candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), noted that  whatever good development they have seen his administration do “is little compared to what is coming under Omituntun 2.0.”

Similarly, while speaking at Oyedeji, Oja Olorunda, Igbo Elerin, Baale Ojurin and Akobo campaign points, the governor expressed satisfaction over the massive turnout in all the places visited so far, saying that things would get even better under Omituntun 2.0.

In their remarks, the representatives of the traditional council, religious and community leaders commended Governor Makinde for being a listening governor, pledging to work for the success of his second term bid.

Tunde Ayeni Won't Fall For Sahara Reporters' Blackmail Attempt Over Paternity Tussle | By Biola Ojelade

Without mincing words, Sahara Reporters has consistently presented itself as a cesspool of deception and unethical journalism practice where spurious lies, satanic content, invective and repugnant tirade are fabricated against prominent figures who are not considered ''friends'' or those who fail to pay ''ransom'' for the platform's cheap blackmail.

Yet, the height of reckless and irresponsible journalism was again exhibited in a new year which is the falsehood recently published by Sahara Reporters particularly in a story of a purported paternity tussle between Nigerian seasoned and reputable businessman and former Chairman of defunct Skye Bank, Mr Tunde Ayeni and a female lawyer in Abuja identified as Adaobi Alagwu were involved.

How on earth will Sahara Reporters or anyone else link Tunde Ayeni with such a distasteful scandal? There is no nexus at all. This is an individual known to be a true family man, always building and living an unblemished and exemplary life over the years, a man who has nurtured a robust career in the banking industry and has established good name for himself and for his precious family too, definitely an attempt to drag his name in the mud will simply be an effort in futility.

It is most horrible, reprehensible and unacceptable to see Sahara Reporters quoting sources that can not be verified to substantiate their vicious claims in this latest hatchet job. Obviously this has not only become the staple diet of Sahara Reporters but a defining feature of its ugly practice of gutter journalism. So this current effort was nothing but a sensationalisation of falsehood that is taken too far.

Why did Sahara Reporters condescended so low by taking the affiliation of Tunde Ayeni with  political party or presidential candidate of his choice as their own business? It is an extension of the latter's fundamental rights to exercise his freedom of association with anyone, just like Omoyele Sowore the publisher of Sahara Reporters is also a politician and a Presidential candidate, these are alliances covered by the Nigerian law.

Ayeni, a very reticent, humble and highly disciplined character has never entertained any extra marital affairs in his life, neither has he engaged in any abortion with Adaobi Alagwu or anyone else, similarly there is no proof to establish paternity of any child or children to him outside wedlock.

It is simply appropriate to put it on record that there is absolutely no iota of truth in any part of that gibberish published by Sahara Reporters and it is nothing but fake news. As a matter of fact it is a total fabrication put together by a desperate and unprofessional media house that seeks to destroy every member of the Tunde Ayeni's family. Sahara Reporters has a consistent record of manufacturing destructive stories about people's private life and this is nothing new, unfortunately for them they have failed woefully.

The platform is simply a fitted junk mill which always fail to stick to the culture of weighing facts against truths and demanding the other side which are hallmarks of good and excellent reportage. One of the dictums is that as reporters you should not misinform, neither should you build figment of the imagination to tickle fancy or drive traffic to your medium, it is criminal, slanderous, and defaming.

The Sahara Reporters team has crafted numerous set of canons for its recruits; their specialty, to say the least, is taking the frontier of reporting away from facts to the inglorious realm of groundless speculation and dementia. It is an absurdly false and characterless brand of unethical and blackmail journalism whose stock in trade is falsehoods, obnoxious and villainous beer parlour gossips.

To put the record straight, Tunde Ayeni is a developer of a very significant progress in the society; very restless, a purpose-driven entrepreneur who is pushing the frontier of business, taking risks, trying new things and time has shown that he is a real goal getter who has no time for frivolity any any unproductive venture. Therefore no amount of distraction from Sahara Reporters and it's ilk will pull him down or ruin his rising and intimidating profile which has impacted the society in many positive ways.

However, Tunde Ayeni's legal team are already taking up this matter, therefore members of the public are advised to ignore Sahara  Reporters' baseless, ridiculous and desperate fabrications and treat them with the contempt and disdain that they utterly deserve.
