‘Please Resign And Return To PDP’ -Atiku Advises Amaechi

The Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has described the alleged statement made by the Minister of Transportation and Director General of the Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organization, Rt. Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi on the state of the nation as courageous, just as he urged him to resign his appointment and return to the PDP.

Audio tapes of Amaechi allegedly casting aspersions on and mocking President Muhammadu Buhari, have surfaced online.

APC talking heads on social media maintain that the audio tapes were doctored and taken out of context.
In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Public Communication, Mr. Phrank Shaibu, Atiku “lamented the shabby treatment of Amaechi for speaking truth to power in a leaked audio tape which led to his being made a ceremonial Director General of the president’s re-election campaign organization.
“We dare say that the cold war between the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Mr. Rotimi Amaechi as well as the statements credited to the latter in a leaked tape which lead to the appointment of Tinubu to take charge of the campaigns, are at the least a national embarrassment to the nation. Amaechi must now resign and return home to the PDP where he belongs,” the statement read.

2019: Osun PDP Accuses APC of Planning Violence, Mass Arrest, Indefinite Detention Against Members

The Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State has raised alarm on what it called, harassment, intimidation, mass arrest and indefinite detention of its members by the All Progressives Congress with connivance of the men of the Nigerian police ahead of the 2019 general elections.

The statement was made available to the press by the state chairman of the party, Hon. Olasoji Adagunodo today, in Osogbo, Osun State.

According to Adagunodo, "they have begun the operation in Ila Orangun, in Ila local government area of the state."

"Reliable information confirmed that they went to the house of a PDP member with  posters of APC and started pasting it and at the same time brought in police who came into the house to make arrest of those who were holding meetings that they were disturbing the people pasting the posters, they took them to the station and locked them up" Adagunodo explained.

One of such incidence according to the PDP Chairman is the arrest, detention and refusal of bail on arguments over pasting of posters by  Magistrate Aluko, saying "Ila is volatile"

Adagunodo said it is becoming too obvious that the threat of the APC about a week ago that they will use the Police and the Judiciary to harass and detain members of his party, before the elections and keep them until after the elections is been carried out.

According to the party chairman those  arrested and are now being remanded  are AJIBOYE LATEEF
OLAYOLE KUNLE
ABOLARIN MICHEAL
RAFIU IBRAHEEM and
BASIRU OYENIYI. All from Ila local government.

Adagunodo said the party is aware of the said  secret meeting where it was decided that they will use biased members of the judiciary to carry out their clandestine moves.

Hon. Adagunodo, however, called on the Chief Judge to call  members of the Judiciary under her to order and maintain their neutrality at all time.

The PDP therefore, calls on the ruling party to call its members to order, because "no one has monopoly of violence or harassment".

"We as a party are peace lovers and the love for our state has made us to maintain our calm in the face of this brazing robbery of our mandate and the arrogant grandstanding of the shameless vote robbers" Adagunodo concluded.
