Why Ibadan Celebrities Will Miss Oyo Assembly Speaker's Mum, Tina Ogundoyin

It would be an understatement to say that many are still in shock over the death of the mother of Oyo Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, Chief (Mrs) Tina Ogundoyin. In fact her sudden death has thrown into a deep mourning not only the Ibadan social establishment but also the political and business worlds in Oyo State and beyond. She will be terribly missed by all and sundry. Of course reason for this is not far-fetched, Yeye Tina Ogundoyin in her lifetime was a woman of many parts; a businesswoman, politician, philanthropist and a socialite per excellence.

She dominated the social scene like a colossus. No party worth its salt was completed without her presence. She was also a woman of class and an epitome of beauty. She wasn't called 'Queen of Sheba' for nothing. Chief (Mrs) Tina Ogundoyin was astonishingly beautiful, warm, kind and accommodating. She was known and testified to by many as a woman who was always ready to help. She was charismatic too.

Her organisaronal skill was second to none. And that perfectly reflected in her private, business and social life. It also explained why many people always wanted her at their parties. She was the 'Mrs Fix It' of sort of Ibadan social establishment. These are the qualities she was known for and values she upheld till she breathed her last breath on Sunday, 26 March, 2023, at age 63. Chief (Mrs) Tina Ogundoyin, no doubt, was well loved and respected by her friends and associates.

Little wonder then that one of late Tina Ogundoyin's friends, Mrs. Ronke Olunloyo, described the deceased as one in a million woman when this reporter put a call through to her to get her response over the death of their friend.

In her words, "Tina was a very good friend to everybody. She has a very large heart. She was a strong woman, who, through thick and thin, singlehandedly trained her children and they are all doing fantastic in their various chosing careers. She was lively, she was kind, she was jealous. As a matter of fact she was an all-rounder. Hard-working woman. Always lending the helping hands. Of course she was not perfect, nobody is but she was very nice and compassionate.

She also made sure she kept the husband's name out there. She was always in Eruwa. There is nothing we want to do once it clashes with any event in Eruwa, she won't come. She would rather go to Eruwa. That is why she was well loved and recognized in the town. That was also why the son was elected into the Oyo State House of Assembly, the first and second term. It was a kind of payback."

Chief (Mrs) Justina Iyabo Ogundoyin was the fourth wife of the late Eruwa-born philanthropist and Business Mogul, Chief Adeseun Ogundoyin.

She is survived by four children, Adesoji, Adebo (Oyo State Speaker), Adetoye and Aderemi.

Tina Ogundoyin was also the Iyaloja General of Ibarapa land.

Napoli Alarmed As Osimhen Loses ‘Magical’ Facemask While Returning From Nigeria

According to Italian media outlet Calciomercato, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen returned to Italy after international duty with Nigeria without his facemask.

The 24-year-old, who has been in sensational form this term and is one of the most sort after strikers in Europe, has been wearing the mask, following a collision with Milan Skriniar during an Inter versus Napoli match in November 2021, which left him with multiple fractures to his left orbital and cheekbone.

Osimhen has scored 25 goals for Napoli this season to help the club to the top spot in the Italian league plus a first-ever UEFA Champions League quarter-final spot, where they have been drawn against Sunday’s opponents AC Milan.

According to the report, the Eagles forward lost the mask while returning to Italy after Nigeria’s 1-0 win over Guinea-Bissau in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier March 27.

“The protective mask, in addition to guaranteeing greater safety, has also become a sort of superstitious object.

“Osimhen lost it on his return from Nigeria; he realised he no longer had it and considering the great value given to superstition in Naples, the alarm has already been raised among Neapolitan fans.

“In the meantime, the orthopaedic staff who built the mask will work to design a new one and deliver it to the player as soon as possible. It won’t be ready by Sunday when the match against Milan takes place and Osimhen will have to use the old mask there.”

Aside from losing his mask, the former Lille star returned with a knock and out of AC Milan match on Sunday and doubtful for the quarter-finals of the Champions League this month.
