Makinde Reverses Appointment of 15 Permanent Secretaries

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has reversed the appointment of 15 new permanent secretaries.

He reversed the promotion on Friday as part of the fulfilment of his promise to review all new contracts and appointments made by the former governor Abiola Ajimobi in the last three weeks and his administration.

The Nation gathered that Makinde announced the decision at a meeting he had with all permanent secretaries in the state.

Confirming the development, the spokesman of the Seyi Makinde Campaign Organisation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, said: “Governor Makinde will be very consistent and finicky with all his campaign promises and this is not an exception.

‘’The governor said that all transactions either contractually or in terms of appointments and promotions that were done especially between Monday March 11 and May 28 would be given closer scrutiny particularly because of the obvious mischief that has been introduced into the whole governance within this period.

‘’So, it’s true that during the campaign period, the governor promised that the people of the state would not have him in the Governor’s Office to embark on distractive traditional probe but the brazen attitude that bothers on attempt to block the success of the current administration has made the governor to decide the latest course of action which is to reverse many of the policies and actions of the Ajimobi administration at the eve of his exit because they were borne out of malice.

“So, just like he made good the promise to cancel the N3, 000 paid by parents on their public secondary school children and open the Governor’s Office flyover for every citizen of Oyo State, in the same manner he is dealing with the issue of the appointment of the permanent secretaries and civil servants.”

Appeal Court Ruling: Osun PDP Congratulates Adeleke, Applauds Judiciary

Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has lauded the decision of the Appeal Court, Abuja for coming out clean on the eligibility case that was filed against the party's candidate, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke by some members of the ruling party, APC and its collaborators in various courts.

The State Chairman  of the party, Hon Olasoji Adagunodo in a release made available to news men  on Thursday, May 30th, 2019 said that, "it was a moment of joy and delight to all Nigerians, not only for Osun State people but for all who witnessed how the Osun State governorship election was manipulated by the powers that be on September, 22nd, 2018."

He further revealed that "there is still hope for the ordinary man through our judiciary."

"PDP and Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke have been vindicated by today's (Thursday, May 30, 2019)  judgment that the judiciary needs to purge itself of a few ones who are hell bent on tarnishing the image of the noble men of the Bar and Bench. if  the summation of the justice Agim who condemned the judgment delivered by the  lower court whom he blamed for setting aside the substances and proofs of eligibility of the PDP's candidate presented by the WAEC and the Principal of Ede Muslim Grammar School but desperately dwelt deliberately of frivolous technicalities to pass a wrong judgment on a very straight forward case."

Adagunodo also expressed delight that Justice Agim saw what ordinary citizens who are not lawyers saw and with his scolding the Bwari High Court judgment as uncalled for, Justice Agim has rekindled the hope of the common man in our judiciary, he however, advised the judiciary to purge itself of those very few judges who are morally bankrupt and are continually putting judiciary into unnecessary disrepute.

He therefore prayed for success for his party and its candidate at the supreme court. He said the PDP had done all that was necessary from the polling units on September 22nd 2018 up to the last day at the election petition tribunal to deserve unhindered victory up to the Supreme Court by the special grace of the Almighty God.

"We are calling on all supporters of Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke and PDP not to relent in their prayers for  victory at the supreme court for their candidate and the party especially during this Ramadan season since God is on our side," he concluded.

Real Reason Ladoja Was Absent At Makinde's Inauguration

While many political bigwigs in Oyo State and across the South West, especially the PDP stalwarts, yesterday, were present at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium (formerly Liberty Stadium, venue of inauguration ceremony of Engr. Seyi Makinde as the executive governor of the state, one man who was conspicuously absent is the former Governor, Senator Rashidi Ladoja.
This development is rather shocking to many, as Ladoja was the head of coalition of others political parties (ZLP, ADC, ADP etc) that worked for Makinde's election victory.

All kinds of insinuations have since been flying around, some say the initial agreement of the coalition must have been broken.

A source however revealed to trendscopenewsblogspot that  Chief Ladoja's absent at the inauguration may not be unconnected with the sharing formula of his own side (ZLP) which is said to have been cut down to 5 percent instead of 15 as earlier agreed.

It was further gathered that the initial agreement between PDP caucus and coalition is 5 percent and that is was Engr. Seyi Makinde who jerked that of ZLP up to 15 percent. But according to what was revealed to this medium, the original plan had to be adopted when Ladoja's caucus started demanding for juicy position like that of SSG even with their 15 percent.

Whether all these instructions are right or wrong, however, the fact remains that all is not with within the coalition, and if the situation at hand is not well managed, it may generate into a bigger controversy.

RE: A/Ibom Elders Write PMB, Kick Against AKPABIO’S Nomination

The State working Committee of the APC Akwa Ibom State has observed with utter dismay one faceless Elders’ group- Ibom Integrity & Servant Leadership Culture Initiative parading and arrogating to itself the power of condemnation and recommendation as quite worrisome, embarrassing and unacceptable.

We hereby confirm that the self acclaimed leader of the group, Dr Asuquo Edidem Etim is a disclaimer and not APC member and we have no such group in our APC groups’ Registration Register in Akwa Ibom State.

And the Party condemns in totality, the disparaging campaign against our very endearing son, Sen. Godswill Akpabio as evil fireworks meant to generate bad blood and disaffection in our party in this trying time.

Accordingly, the party warns such non-existent group claiming to be an affiliate of APC in the State to desist forthwith from such nefarious engagement as there is no provision in the APC constitution that grants such
power (s ) to anyone or group to dabble into the function which is solely the prerogative of the State Working Committee (SWC) of APC in Akwa Ibom State.

Finally, the party maintains that
such letters of condemnation and recommendation stand annulled with immediate effect.

On the weight of this release, HE President, Muhammadu Buhari, APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshomehle,
the Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Boss Mustapha, Chief of Staff to the President, Mr Abba Kyary and the general public are hereby advised to discountenance any such correspondence (s) not from Akwa Ibom State Secretariat.

Signed.

Council Dissolution: New Oyo Governor, ALGON On Collision Course

The newly inaugurated governor of Oyo State, HE Seyi Makinde and the Oyo State chapter of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) are set for a serious battle.

Shortly after the handling over, Gov. Makinde, in a press statement signed by his Chief of Staff, Chief Bisi Ilaka, directed that all local governments executive be dissolved and that the chairmen should handover to their Heads of Local Government Administration (HLA) or the most Senior Directors in their respective local government areas and councils.

"His Excellency, the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde has directed as follows:
1. That all local Government authorities, Local Council Development Authorities be dissolved with immediate effect.

2. That all Local Government Chairmen are to hand over to their Heads of Local Government Administration (HLA) or the most Senior Directors in their local government areas and councils.

3. That all Boards of Parastatals and corporations be dissolved.

4. That embargo be placed on all Local and State Government accounts until further directives," the statement reads.

ALGON has, however, reacted to the purported dissolution, describing as illegal and unconstitutional. They therefore mad known their decision to seek redress in the court of law. This was contained in press release signed by the Chairman of the Oyo State chapter of the association, Hon. Abass Aleshinloye.

"It has come to the notice of  ALGON Oyo State branch that the new governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has purportedly dissolved all democratically elected local government in the state.

This to say the least is UNCONSTITUTIONAL unwise, unexpected and too hasty for a new government that is yet to find its feet.

This illegality was reported in the news media.

ALGON Oyo rejects this unconstitutional act of Mr. Governor. It is illegal and a contempt of a subsisting court injunction  against any dissolution of the councils as ordered by Justice A. A. Aderemi of High Court 2, Ibadan, Oyo State., on May 6, 2019.

We wish to appeal to all duly elected  local government chairmen, councillors, supervisors and Oyo State citizens in these respective councils to  remain calm and be peaceful.

ALGON will seek all democratic and constitutional means to correct this illegal act.
All  will be apprrpriately updated as events unfold.

We count on your solidarity and maximum moral support in this democratic struggle".

Akpabio Versus The Enemies of Akwa Ibom State

By Sampson Sampson

The trending reports that an unknown group which claims to be Elders of the All Progressive Congress in Akwa Ibom State under the bogus aegis of Ibom Integrity and Servant Leadership Culture Initiative has in a letter to Mr. President rejected the listing of Senator Godswill Akpabio for ministerial appointment is another moral failure on the part of the actors and their sponsors. The reasons adduced are not only untenable and illogical, it underscores the hate infested position in the ill fated correspondence.

The mischievous epistle entitled: “Ministerial Appointment: Why Appointing Akpabio May be Counter Productive” is a hollow attempt to scuttle and destroy rather build for the interest of the vast majority of Akwa Ibom people. It is an obvious case of pettiness and jealousy that has failed to consider the capacity of the nominee. That Senator Akpabio has the capacity to add meaningful value to the body of achievements of the Federal Government is beyond dispute even to his ardent critics who wish to be sincere. Those who posit that appointing him as minister would be counter-productive are beclouded and driven by evil tendencies that good spirited people in every society should distance themselves from.

In the evil treatise, these agents provocateur alleged that the defeat of APC in the State in the last general election was according these men of ill “largely as a result of the destabilizing and anthouritarian tendencies of Akpabio…” What a sad and absurd submission! In the 2015 general election, APC with all the hullabaloo they raised in the state scored a paltry 89,865 summing to less than 5% against 976,071 votes of the PDP. In the 2019 general election, Akpabio’s advent into the party raised the bar to over 175,000 amounting to 31% against 519,712 despite the conspiracy of the likes of the characters behind this missive and the machination of the State Government in collusion with INEC.

It is a record of proven testimony that Akpabio’s entry into APC raised the acceptability bar of that party. But the party was bogged down by internal conspiracy which is still playing out like the case of this letter. The so called APC leaders did not work for the party. They were busy sabotaging the modest efforts that the likes of Akpabio contributed by having nocturnal meetings with PDP and collecting money to reveal the winning strategies of the party to the ruling party in the state. As acclaimed leaders of the party, they also positioned themselves and cornered funds that were meant for campaigns/ logistics especially on the day of election, leaving APC agents, co-ordinators and party faithful stranded without the wherewithal to prosecute the election.

It is unfortunate that we live in a society where moral degeneration is on the increase on daily basis and accepted as a way of life. If people who claim to be elders of a ruling party could gang up to sabotage one of their own and do so openly, one can imagine what they did pre and during the election while they were not being watched. This particular correspondence attests to the fact that the so called APC leaders do not have the interest of the party at heart. If they had, they would have been thinking of how to build and prepare the party to win election in 2023. But a leopard can not change its spots. Once a saboteur, always a saboteur. Rather than think of ways of rejuvenating the party, theirs is to continue to stoke crises and put the party on the peril of fragmentation.

It is obvious to even the non-initiates that one man who has the capacity to maximize an office for the interest of the party is Senator Godswill Akpabio. It is also a fact that despite his travails orchestrated by the State Government in collaboration with INEC, Akpabio still commands followership in the State more than any other politician including the sitting governor. These charismatic poise and electrifying personality which endear him to a vast majority of people have also elicited in many the bile of hate. This seems to be the crossroad of Akpabio’s looming political career which his enemies are working vigorously at eclipsing. But when you eclipse your only star, what would illuminate your path?

From this ill- fated correspondence, it is easy to deduce that Akpabio’s purported failure does not portend the likelihood of reality. But let me restrain any further remark since the matter is currently a subject of adjudication at the Election Petition Tribunal. But suffice it to say that our politics is so acrimonious that politicians don’t mind the heads of their brothers even when they would gain nothing when such heads are beheaded. Even when the head stands to provide gains, they would rather bear the painful loss with equanimity.

Akwa Ibom people are agreed to be Christians. Apart from the cardinal ordinance of accepting Christ as Lord and personal Saviour, another major fundamental of Christianity is forgiveness. But hear the acclaimed APC leaders: “Same Senator Akpabio that in years past, had been your and our party’s nemesis cannot suddenly become the gadfly of our political generosity”, the letter written to Mr. President and copied to other chieftains of APC stated. How can people who profess Christianity act so meanly and still hold membership in Churches? One may be inclined to view this as a failure on the part of the Church. Sadly, the Church leadership is also hands in gloves in this moral trial. The machinations and plots of evil would continue to pervade the human society but the will of God will always prevail and triumph. Senator Akpabio should recognize that he has always been a product of God’s will. If it was God’s will for him to be a minister, no evil plot shall supplant God’s will for him so long as he continues to hold on to Him in FAITH and TRUST.

Okada Riders' Protest: Adeleke's Governoship Will Restore Prosperity-Osun PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party, Osun State Chapter has sympathized with the Osun State Chapter of Okada Riders Association and other Traders' groups who went on peaceful demonstration in Osogbo on Tuesday over what they called "outrageous levies in the state."

The state's Chairman of the party, Hon. Olasoji Adagunodo, while responding to questions from reporters over the peaceful protest of the traders' Associations said, "it is very unfortunate that the government of APC in the State allowed the tax situation to escalate, fester and degenerate to the level it is now."

Adagunodo said his party is sympathizing with the Okada riders and other traders Unionists because they didn't vote for APC and Oyetola on September 22nd, 2018.

"Their mandate which was given to PDP and its candidate, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke in the election was stolen electoral robbers,"he said.

Adagunodo, however, appealed to the Okada riders and other traders' associations to remain peaceful in their agitations, advising that they should be patient and keep praying for PDP and Senator Adeleke's victory at the Supreme Court to get back his God-given mandate.

He assured them that all outrageous and obnoxious levies and policies would be reviewed to bring succour, not only to Okada riders and traders but to all sections of the state plagued by inhuman anti-people policies of the Oyetola's interim administration.

Adagunodo also thanked the people of the state for voting PDP in the September 22 poll before election riggers snatched victory at gun point, assuring that "the court is the last hope of the poor and we we know Suoreme Court justices will restore the stolen mandate to the mandate holder, Senator Adeleke.

"Our party, PDP is still assuring the people of Osun state that their sufferings will soon come to an end immediately Senator Adeleke is sworn in as the validly elected governor of the State," he stated.

Okada riders and traders had on Tuesday hit the streets of the state's capital, Osogbo, protesting, chanting unpalatable songs against APC and Oyetola's led government.

That, "since these Lagos people came to Osun, it has been different levies and taxations under different titles. Majority of the so-called levies are duplication with no commensurable income to justify what the government had taken from the people of the state.

Hon. Wole One Condemns Kidnapping In Ijesa North, Promises To Meet With Security Operatives

The legislator representing Obokun Oriade Federal Constituency, Honourable Oluwole Oke has condemned the state of kidnapping by the Fulani herdsmen in the constituency in the recent time, saying the situation is becoming unbearable.

Hon Oke described the kidnapping activities as barbaric, ungodly and hostility to humanity.

While charging the State Government to profer solutions to the security challenges in the Ijesa land and entire Osun State, he promised to liaise properly with the various security operatives to ensure peaceful life and rest of mind for the people.

"I call on the State Government to strengthen security of lives and property in Ijesa land, our people could no longer go to their farms or travel from one town to another.

On my own, O will liaise with the security agencies to ensure that my people's lives are protected", Hon. Oke stated.

It would be recalled that a lawyer was kidnapped at Erinmo -Ijesa junction about four months ago, while two Road Safety Officials were also kidnapped two days ago at Erin-Ijesa, Oriade Local Government.

Also few months ago some lecturers of Osun State College of Technology, Esa Oke were kidnapped , while one was killed on Esa oke -Ijebu jesa road another two people were kidnapped on Esa-Odo-Ilare road on Monday and they were still in the den of the herdsdmen as at the time of filling this report, all in Ijesa North Federal Constituency.

Why Engr. Seyi Makinde Must Beware of Sycophants & Name-droppers As Oyo Governor

Though the Governor-elect in Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has, on several occasions, promised to run an all-inclusive government, as he takes over running of the state in a few days time. According to him, he is not only ready to suppass achievements of the past governments, but to also take the state to an enviable stage amongst states in the country. In his post-election press briefing, Makinde said, "we need to take realistic decisions together in order to fullfil your desire for a better life and God helping me, I will not disappoint you." He is looking at critical sectors like Education, Health and job ccreation, in tacking the state's many problems because the challenges before the incoming administration are just too huge, the expectations are too enomous. While the electorates and the people of Oyo State generally are expecting him to deliver on his campaign promises, his political enemies, especially from the main opposition party, APC can't wait to see his government fail for them to mock him. So, he can't afford to fail in any way.

Aside all these challenges, however, another critical area the incoming Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde must be conscious of is his environment, he must be wary of syncophants, hangers-on and name-droppers. As meaningless as these set of people may seem to be to many people, they are capable of sabotaging efforts of any government and paint such government bad to the outside world. In fact, they are referred to, in most cases, as AGIP (Any Government In Power); they always position themselves where it would better their lots. They are not loyal to anybody.

Interestingly too, those who fall in these categories may not be poor people or hooligans as the case may be. They are mostly big boys around with make-believe lifestyles. Those whose lives are built on lies and deceit. They may not necessarily be politicians in fact, most of them are professionals in their various fields, but they live largely, directly or indirectly, on government's patronage. Hence, they must align theselves with any government in power.

How do they operate? Their operation is always well planned so much that whoever that is not within the circle or knowledgeable about how they operate may not decode their gimicks. They must hang around those in government or their principal or somebody who knows somebody in the government circle. What they do is work though their contact, by networking top celebrities in the society or big companies who need one favour or the other from government and assure them of linking them up for contracts or what have you. Or they drop Governor's name to curry favour, monetary or otherwise, from their unsuspecting victims. That is where they make their money through percentage or kickbacks or make more contacts.

Now that another government is coming in, the game is on already and these people are beginning to position themselves and strategizing to kick start their normal trade as usual. While some look at them as harmless business people who have links with the government, some people have lost good money in time past as a result of trusting them as 'middle men' who can speak in their favour in the corridors of power.

Few Days After Ajimobi's Visit: Robbers Raid Adeoyo State Hospital

The Adeoyo State Hospital, off MKO Abiola Way (formerly Ring Road), Ibadan, we heard, was last night raided by some armed robbers.

According to what we gathered, there was no serious casualty as a result of the incident except that some doctors on duty as well as patients' families were rough handled, and valuables like money, phones etc were carted away.

The robbers, we aslo learnt, may have stormed the hospital with the hope of stealing equipments, as the normally do, believed to be in the newly renovated Maternity and Casualty wards. But unknown to them, according to a reliable source, the Governor only visited the hospital to ascertain the level of  development and some ongoing projects.

Governor Ajimobi had on 4th May, 2019, went round Ibadan metropolis, including Adeoyo Hospital, to inspect the level of work at what he tagged his "legacy projects".

Appeal Court Verdict is Shocking But Not The Final-Osun PDP

The Osun State chapter of the People's Decorative Party (PDP), has described as shocking the Appeal Court judgement, which set aside Tribunal verdict that declared Adeleke as winner of the state's September guber election, and declared Oyetola as the validly elected governor.

The party, on Thursday, made known its stand in Press statement signed by their Chairman, Hon. Soji Adagunodo. According to Adagunodo, though the Appeal Court verdict is shocking, but not the final verdict which is going to be be favourable to Senator Ademola Adeleke and PDP.

"We received the Appeal Court Judgement of the Osun State Election petition of today with a huge shock.

Considering all evidences before the lower court and legal points adduced by our legal team at the Appeal Court, we expect victory at the Appeal Court but that's the beauty of democracy, you win one you lose one and it is not over until it is over

We have hope in the judiciary, that does not mean that once in a while there won't be some hiccups in the judicial process, it is understandable and expected that all judges are not the same and they don't think the same and we believe that at the end of the day the Supreme Court will do justice to our case and victory will be ours.

We enjoin our people to be peaceful, calm resolute and have high hope, in the next two months, by the grace of God, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke  will be declared as the governor of Osun State and by then the swearing-in of the new governor in Osun State will be the next stage,"the statement reads.

Jubilation In Uyo As Akpabio Moves Closer To Reclaiming Mandate At Tribunal

The National Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Tuesday,  May 7, 2019, slammed  the Senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr Chris Ekpenyong and the Party over an attempt to cause the Tribunal to reverse itself.

The Tribunal had on April 2, 2019 granted an exparte order to Senator Godswill Akpabio and the All Progressives Congress (APC) for  inspection of materials in the custody of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

PDP had sought a counter order of the  Tribunal to bar the APC and Senator Godswill Akpabio from inspecting electoral materials used in the February 23, 2019 Senatorial elections in Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District.

Counsel to the PDP, Mr Solomon Umoh, SAN had prayed "the Tribunal to dismiss Akpabio's petition in its entirety" as well as "set aside the petitioner's request for inspection and forensic analysis of election materials."

However, in his ruling Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice W. O. Akanbi, declared that the PDP's application for the inspection order to be reverse was an act alien to law.

Justice Akanbi agreed with Sunday I. Ameh,  SAN, Counsel to Senator Akpabio that Engr Ekpenyong and the PDP suffered no prejudice having been invited to be part of the inspection process.

He said the PDP Counsel only succeded in "hell-raising technicalities  to waste the time of the Tribunal."

Justice Akanbi said Senator Akpabio's demand for inspection of electoral materials and the tribunal order granting same were in line with the provisions of Section 151 sub-sections 1 and 2 of the Electoral Act.

The tribunal chairman, while dismissing PDP's argument that the exparte order for the inspection does not align with the provisions of the Electoral Act, noted that any order from a court of competent jurisdiction in relation to the inspection is valid because the Electoral Act does not specify which order should accommodated or rejected.

The tribunal also declared that PDP's motion for an order to stop forensic analysis of the election materials was  lacking in merit because any party in court is at liberty to any of its preferred method of inspection.

According to the Tribunal, "any party is at liberty to adopt any method of inspection. The parties involved in an election can chose to bring in forensic experts. The inspection can also be manually done. Even if the inspection is done with laboratory equipment, the law is okay with that", he noted.

The Tribunal Chairman likened the PDP's action to "crying wolf where there is none."

Speaking to newsmen after the ruling, Barr. Patrick Umoh, who stood in for the petitioner's lead counsel, Mr. Sunday Ameh, SAN, said the ruling had deepened judicial practice.

According to Mr Patrick Umoh, "the application was filed by the 2nd Respondent seeking to vacate the order of the Honourable Tribunal that granted us access to inspect the electoral materials at INEC.

"We responded, and at the end of the day, the ruling came in our favour, which is to the effect that the order of court to inspect the materials was correct in law. There is no way the 2nd Respondent has been  prejudiced, as such the tribunal order was good in Law.

"We salute the judicial system. The ruling is good for the Nigerian legal system. We now know the position of  the Law that with an exparte order you can inspect electoral materials as well as maintain your petition in court," he said.

The ruling is seen as a major boost for Senator Akpabio to reclaim his mandate in an election which he is believed to have won. The tribunal adjourned further sitting to Friday, May 10, 2019.
Immidiately after the ruling , the whole Akwaibom State went into jubilation , thanking God for the victory of their senator

Adeleke: Osun PDP Commends Judiciary, Warns Police Against Being Partisan

The Osun State chapter of the  Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has given kudos to the Nigerian Judiciary for granting Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke bail today at an Abuja Magistrate court in a case of testimonial/certificate forgery  "a repetition of various court actions some of which have been concluded others still ongoing at various other higher courts."

This statement was released today by the Osun State Chairman of the Party, Hon. Olasoji Adagunodo and made available to news men.

Adagunodo said "it is unfortunate that the police has turned itself to the instruments of oppression which politicians are now using to torment and terrorise law abiding citizens over a case that is awaiting adjudication in some courts of higher jurisdictions."

Adagunodo therefore advised the police "to be more alive to their primary assignments of ensuring security of lives and properties of the citizens and be obedient to the rule of law rather than meddling in internal issues of political parties that is degrading the image of the erstwhile protective agency of government."

Adagunodo however expressed delight at the forthrightness and sincerity with which the judge who presided over the case handled the situation which has therefore rekindled how reliable and uncompromising the judiciary has proved itself, therefore telling Nigerians and indeed the whole world that there is still hope for the common man in our judiciary."

With this marathon of persecution of Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke and failure each time by APC to stop him from realizing his God given mandate it is clear that APC has no solution to stop Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke from become the governor of Osun State.

Hold Police, APC Responsible if Anything Happens to Adeleke-Osun PDP

The  Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has charged Nigerians and the International communities to hold the Nigeria Police Force and the All Progressive Congress responsible if anything tragic happens to the Governorship candidate of the Party and current Senator, Ademola Adeleke.

The Party stated this today in a Press release issued by the State Chairman Hon Soji Adagunodo, in response to the arrest of Adeleke by the Police authorities  in Abuja.

Adagunodo said the arrest of the Osun Governorship candidate who recently won an Election petition and declared as the rightful winner of the September 22nd 2018 Governorship election is a clear case of political desperation taken too far by the Police which is obviously executing a script of the APC.

He added that the arrest is fuelling speculation of an attempt to put Senator Adeleke in harm's way to prevent him from conclusively retrieving the mandate freely given him by the good people of Osun State.

The PDP said the Public should  recall the Senator Adeleke has an urgent Medical need which made a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja order that his International passport be released to him to travel abroad for immediate  medical attention.

The Court also ordered that the Senator should return to Nigeria by the first week of June to answer whatever charges the Police claim that they have against him.

The Party then wondered why the Police would arrest and frustrate an urgent  medical trip of a citizen who has never shunned any Police summon or jumped bail in any of the trumped up charges against him in the courts of the land.

It should interest members of the public to know that the offence for which the Police has again arrested and detained Senator Adeleke are based on the same facts which competent courts of the land are currently handling, including an ongoing  appeal against a judgement  of an FCT High Court in Bwari.

It is also a matter to be taken serious note of that the citizen in question has been declared the Governor-elect of a State by a competent tribunal  and is currently defending that judicial victory at the Court of Appeal.

The PDP is by this statement calling on well meaning Nigerians, the Civil Society and Human rights community to intervene in the serial, vicious and clearly  unjustifiable oppression of Senator Ademola Adeleke by the Powers that be using the Nigeria Police Force as a tool.

"We call on President Muhammadu Buhari to call the Inspector General of Police to order and urge him to refrain from ongoing attempts to frustrate a valid court order which has granted Senator Ademola Adeleke permission to travel abroad for his medicals,"Adagunodo said.

Ramadan: Seyi Makinde Charges Muslims To Pray for Peace, Unity

The Oyo State Governor-elect, Engr Seyi Makinde has urged Muslim faithfuls across Oyo state and Nigeria as a whole to work and pray for the progress, unity of the state and the country.
In a Press release signed by his spokesman, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the Governor-elect stated that the unabated kidnapping, insecurity and rising unemployment in the country deserve our collective efforts to salvage the country from the precipice of virtual peril.
He said hard work and prayers are the only way out of this untold dilemma in which we have found ourselves.
Makinde, however, prayed to Allah that this Ramadan activities will greatly reduce all vices that are inimical to the progress and unity of this great country.

The Cry of A Drowning Political Party-Adagunodo

The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has described as laughable, a statement by Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, the  spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress in the state, alleging blackmail of the judiciary on the pending appeal filed by their party.

This is contained in a release by the State Chairman of the party, Hon. Olasoji Adagunodo today and made available to  journalists.

"It is surprising that a political party that hired touts and protesters against a well articulated judgement in favour of the mandate freely given to Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke and the PDP by the people of the state could suddenly become friendly and turned to a self acclaimed defender of the same judicial institution it recently blackmailed and publicly insulted."

Adagunodo further stated that, "the people of Osun state cannot be carried away by mere propaganda and deliberate falsehood of a DROWNING Political Party, the APC that is aimed at creating confusion in the minds of the people.

That "Nigerians know the political party that has penchant for disobedience and disregard for the Rule of Law, he stressed further that the people know how APC gave money to touts and imported jobless Lagosians and many people from other neighbouring states with ridiculous stipends who matched on the streets of Osogbo to demonstrate against the judgment that was widely applauded with wild jubilations across the Nation and Osun State."

"One wonders why the ruling Party limited its then anti-tribunal judgment protest to Osogbo township alone, Why didn't they replicate the demonstration in every local  government areas of the state like the spontaneous jubilation that greeted the victory of Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke and the PDP," Adagunodo inquired.

This recent allegations against PDP by the APC and their strange interest in defense of the Judiciary is a confirmation of the authenticity of the alleged bribery attempts, because the allegations did not emanated from the officials of  our Party but from the interested Nigerians people who are following the OSUN STATE GUBERNATORIAL ELECTIONS CASE at the Tribunal keenly, however with this action of the APC , it is only confirming that they truly made the move but failed." the chairman added.

He further stressed that "It is also saddening that since the people of Osun State gave their mandate to Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke, the APC has employed different tactics to destroy and smear his  image by going to different courts on frivolous allegations and also using the instrument of Government to victimised his person but they will fail in all their attempts." Adagunodo assured.

We "however, strongly advise and warn that nothing untoward or   BAD incidence in all ramifications should happen to this Man of Destiny, especially in the area of security."

If there is any political party that is tolerant,  law abiding, peaceful and peace loving, it is PDP, we demonstrated this during the open electoral robbery of our party on September 22, 2018 , if it was APC that was in our position, war would have broken out but in our characteristic manner we calmed down our supporters and followers and followed the rule of law to claim our mandate and we thank God that the judges lived up to their callings by ensuring that justice and truth prevailed. Even when some of our submissions and applications were rejected, we opted for appeal.

Without any equivocation, we must let the APC know that we are not unaware of the grand plan of the APC to engage the state in mayhem and violence in a situation that the Appeal Court judgment doesn't favour them. This is another style of the APC, they are fond of accusing people of what they are planning to do, it is an old fashion and the whole world have known and seen it as their style.

However, we implore all institutions and agencies of government, especially, the Inspector General of Police and those that are saddled with the responsibilities of maintaining peace not to allow themselves to be used by the APC with their anti democratic tendencies. We also advise them to be on the red alert and avoid being lukewarm if and when the APC makes any attempt to cause mayhem after the declaration of our party's candidate Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke as the rightful owner of the mandate freely given to him by the people of Osun State.

We are also again reiterating our absolute confidence in the judiciary to deliver judgment of truth based on available evidences with them without fear or favour,"he concluded.

APC Decries Akwa Ibom INEC REC Mike Igini's Unending Partisanship

ALL  PROGRESIVE   CONGRESS, APC

149, Ikot Ekpene Road , Uyo

Akwa  Ibom  State.

PRESS STATEMENT

What are the forces controlling Mike Igini ?

Whoever had any iota of doubt about the weak character, bad conduct and poor judgement of Michael Igini, the INEC REC in Akwa Ibom State, only needs to read his latest outburst against the APC to clear such reservations.

Mr. Igini addressed a press conference in his office last Friday, and claimed that the APC candidates in the last general elections are challenging the results of the elections at the Tribunals because they want to ‘make noise, attract sympathy and look for appointments from President Buhari’.
Even those that had benefitted from Mike Igini’s electoral scam have been embarrassed by this reckless, partisan, insulting and gratuitous statement.

There is no other REC, among the 37 of them in the country – and we know that there are election cases in almost every state of the federation - that is so petty, mean-spirited and overtly biased against any political party as Igini is.

The Holy Book tells us that from the fullness of the heart, the mouth speaks.  Mr Igini can no longer conceal his partiality for the PDP and bias against the APC. His cup will run over, sooner or later.

We invite Nigerians to note the following sequence of events, just to try to understand the working of Igini’s complex and compromised personae.

The Akwa Ibom Governorship Election Petition Tribunal had on Monday 15 April ordered INEC to allow the APC legal team access to materials used for the election for the purpose of inspection. INEC flouted this order. Then on Monday, 29 April – two weeks after the Order was issued, Chief Victor Iyanam, the lead counsel to Nsima Ekere, APC governorship candidate who is challenging the governorship election, announced that his team had not been allowed to inspect the materials as ordered by the Tribunal.

On Thur, 2 May, the Tribunal warned INEC against flouting its Orders and noted that the commission risks a N2 million fine as enshrined in Section 77 of the Electoral Act. Apparently stung and embarrassed by the warning from the Tribunal, Igini hurriedly called a press conference the following day and launched his diatribes. What are the justifications for these insults? What are the forces controlling this REC?

In our response to this unprovoked, unjustified and overtly partisan harangue, we wish to make the following categorical statements:

1.     We have long established that Mike Igini was well compromised and induced by the PDP to conduct the last elections in its favour. We have substantiated evidence to prove that Igini and his Ad Hoc staff colluded with PDP to execute one of the most extensive electoral frauds in history of Akwa Ibom. We shall present our evidence in court.

2.     We believe that Mike Igini would rather wish we do not challenge the elections in court. He would actually prefer to retire quietly to enjoy his filthy lucre in comfort.

3.     Mike Igini’s unguarded statement, in a way, is an insult to President Muhammadu Buhari. It is not within the purview of a corrupt electoral official to tell the President how to make his appointments.

4. Damaged and morally bankrupt, Igini will go down in history a REC who sold his soul to the devil for the love of money.
We wish to assure him that public officials of his kind have no place in a new Nigeria being moulded by President Buhari. The National Chairman of INEC that has built a warm nest of protection around Mike Igini should be very ashamed of this his godson.

Besides, the entire world is anxiously waiting to know what happens to the certificate of returns of House Assembly Election in Essien Udim State Constituency conducted by Michael Igini in the elections he claimed to be free and fair.

APC Youths Berate Akwa Ibom INEC REC Over Comments on Election Petitioners

Akwa Ibom chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC National Youth Caucus has frowned at the state's INEC REC, Mike Igini's statements on the candidates at election Tribunal, in which he was quoted to have said that APC candidates are at the Tribunal to make noise as strategy to get appointments.

"We are indeed dismayed by this kind of a partisan and scandalous outburst by a supposed unbiased and non partisan electoral umpire. It has never happened before.

Even PDP official spokesmen are more refined, guarded and cautious in their public statements.

An INEC REC is now the chief propagandist of the PDP, castigating, blackmailing APC candidates for going to the tribunal to challenge the outcome of the fraudulent election conducted by him and his accomplices.

What's his business if APC candidates are going to the tribunal or not?.

Surely, he had vested interest in the election and he is all out to protect it. But he'llfail this time.

With this unguarded statement by the Akwa Ibom INEC REC, no further proof is needed ded to show that he was and still remains part of the PDP rigging template in the last election. And evidently, he is acting PDP scripts.

He is becoming so desperate and we wish to urge the National Chairman of the INEC and other authorities to call him to order.

Just a matter of time, the evils he perpetrated against the APC in the state would be exposed and justice would be done," the youths stated in a statement signed by the state Chairman, Obong Iniobong John.
