Fayose Wins Second Round, As Supreme Court Upheld His Victory. Can He Survive The Heat?.

The Ekiti State governor, Dr. Ayodele Fayose has won second round of what is being described as political battle of his life. As the Supreme Court on Tuesday 14th April, 2015, thrashed out case instituted by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Recall Fayose defeated the immediate past Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi in all the 16 Local Government Areas of the state, in the last guber election.

The Ekiti State Governor, Peter Ayodele Fayose, on Tuesday consolidated his party’s victory in the  election that returned him as the governor as the Supreme Court dismissed the petition filed against his election.

Results of which APC were not satisfied with and headed to the Election Petitions Tribunal. Which in its ruling of December 19, 2014 dismissed the APC’s application for lacking in merit. The tribunal thereafter upheld Fayose’s election as Governor.

The APC however were also not satisfied with the tribunal’s verdict and therefore approached the Court of Appeal. Where Fayose's victory was affirmed on February 16, 2015, by the 5-member panel chaired by Justice Abdul Aboki.

But having won all legal battles, the Governor still has the impeachment threat to face as APC lawmakers have asked the Chief Justice of the state to constitute a panel to investigate the impeachable offences levelled against 'Oshokomole' as Fayose is widely called on the political scene.

The question on the lips of political watchers in the state however is if Fayose can survive all these political heat coming his way from left, right and centre.
