As part of activities marking the remembrance of their late mother Mrs. Titilayo Asubiaro, in whose name a foundation (Florence Titilayo Asubiaro Foundation) was set up in 2015, the Asubiaro family yesterday paid for the surgeries of two indigent children.
The two lucky patients were Quazeem Ajayi (2+, Male) and Kuburat Oyewole (12, Female).
Mama Asubiaro, aged 71, who passed on in 2005 was known for her philanthropic efforts towards the indigent within her immediate community.
After her passage, the family set up the Foundation as a means of furthering the dreams and ideals of their loving mum. This year's donation was the fourth in the series which started in 2015.
In his speech at the event, the Hospital's Chief Medical Director, Prof. Temitope Alonge showered encomiums on the family for this lofty deed, and prayed that God would continue to uphold and provide for the family.
The Spokesperson for the Foundation and daughter of Mama Asubiaro, Pastor Olawunmi Ogunsan expressed her profound appreciation to the Hospital for giving them the platform to fulfil the dreams of their mum which is to continue supporting the poor with health challenges'.
She added that 'mama's grandchildren are always present when we do these donations so that they too can continue this good work when they grow up'.
Responding on behalf of the parents of the beneficiaries, Mr Ajao thanked the Foundation for 'coming to their aids when they have given up all hope of paying for the surgical intervention for their children.'
According to him, "against all hope and from no where without having not heard about this Foundation before because I live in Lagos, I was called to come for my son's surgery because a Foundation has decided to pay for it."
It should be noted that the Florence Titilayo Asubiaro Foundation was one of those honoured at the Hospital's 60th Anniversary Celebration in November, 2017.
