Sen. Akpabio's Defection Not Due To Any EFCC Investigation.- Clement Ikpatt.

As fear and desperation grip the Akwa Ibom state PDP over Sen. Godswill Akpabio's upcoming defection to the APC, there have been mixed reactions registered all over the print, electronic and social media. Also, there are jitters, panic, confusion, suspicions, fury, rumours, denials, begging, spins, even silence in Udom Emmanuel's camp.

In all of their reactions, Gov. Udom Emmanuel and his supporters wish that the defection does not take place. They are petrified, knowing that Sen. Akpabio's defection will register as a political tsunami that flushes Udom Emmanuel away from the Hilltop Mansion.

First, Udom Emmanuel's chance of winning a reelection is completely foreclosed. Secondly, the PDP, both as a political party as religion, is likely to diminish out of Akwa Ibom State. And, thirdly, there will be some electoral shifts capable of redrawing the electoral map of Nigeria's South-South geopolitical zone.

When it became obvious that no amount of begging would sway Sen. Akpabio from defecting to the APC, Gov. Udom Emmanuel resorted to his service mark lying spree. He sponsored the lie that EFCC troubles are reasons for Akpabio's defection. In national newspapers and on the social media, his media aides took turns to spread the ridiculous lie. A logical question to ask is: if defection to the APC was Sen. Akpabio's way out of EFCC troubles, would he not have since defected in 2015 or 2016 when EFCC turned on the heat against him?
Yes, he would have. The truth is that Sen. Akpabio's decision to defect from the PDP has nothing to do with any previous or pending case with the EFCC. In fact, he has no pending case with the EFCC since the last petition against him was withdrawn by the author.

Also, if defection to the APC is the way to avoid an EFCC investigation, does it mean that all members of the Kwara State PDP who have now defected en masse to the APC did so in order to avoid EFCC investigations? No, those former members of the PDP defected only because of irreconcilable differences with Sen. Bukola Saraki and others who recently switched from APC to PDP.

It is now obvious that no begging or insult from Udom Emmanuel can stop Sen. Akpabio from defecting to the APC. Wednesday, August 08, 2018 has been scheduled for the formal defection ceremony. Nigeria's Vice President - Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, APC National Chairman - Comrade Adams Oshiomole, the NDDC Managing Director - Obong Nsima Ekere and many other key officials will grace the weighty defection ceremony.

Sen. Akpabio's defection to the APC will lead to many good results: there will be the flushing out of Udom Emmanuel's incompetent, lying and unaccountable government, Akwa Ibom State will reset onto her earlier path of sustainable development, and the mindless cold war that Udom Emmanuel plotted, started and fought against his mentor and predecessor will end. By the defection, APC will eventually take over the government of Akwa Ibom State even as, henceforth, Udom Emmanuel is reduced to a lame duck whose one term as the worst ever governor of the State will permanently end in ten months.

Meet Ibadan's 10 Big Real Estate Players

The real estate sector in Oyo State, especially Ibadan, the capital city, is currently experiencing what could best be described as a mega boom. Thanks to the few investors who saw the vision years back and keyed into it by contributing their quotas to the development of the sector. Kudos also to the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration in the state for creating an enabling environment (the successive governments couldn't be excused from the success story too). Not only has Makinde's administration created an enabling environment, it has introduced some investors-friendly policies, and as well undertook partnerships that had really helped in bringing about the unprecedented developments in the sector. This has also created room for options for those who are interested in both luxury and low cost estates. Its also explains reasons for the many real estate projects (both completed and ongoing) all over the place. There are developments and construction almost everywhere in Ib
