Dr. Islamiyat Oluwatoyin Abdulkadir didn't allow challenges of life deter her from achieving her dream and passion of becoming a Medical Doctor. Having becoming an orphan at the tender age of 6; she lost her father at 3 and mother three years after.
But luck smiled on her at the verge of being withdraw from primary school due to inability of her grandmother to continue paying school fees. Thanks to the founder of AD-in International Group of School, Alhaja Sekinat Adekola who saw a brighter future in Oluwatoyin and awarded scholarship up till secondary school.
Toyin however didn't disappoint her benefactor as she emerged the best student in primary, secondary school and did so well in WAEC and scored 274 in her JAMB examination.
Again, just as when Oluwatoyin was contemplating on how to go about entering for Medicine at the University of Ibadan due to financial constrain, a team of International University of Africa, Sudan came to Nigeria to recruit Nigerian students for their school of Nursing. Through both written and oral test, Islamiyat emerged the best student and was awarded scholarship to the school.
She was later to cross from Faculty of Nursing to Faculty of Mediacine after the first semester examination, thereby fulfilled her dream of studying Medicine
.
With determination to be the best despite challenges of life and God on her side and with help of the Proprietress of AD-in International group of Schools; her academic mentor, Adefemi Afolabi, Senior Lecturer and Consultant General Surgeon, Department of Surgery, College of Medicine, UCH, Ibadan, Islamiyat has emerged the best graduating Medical Doctor from International University of Africa with a record breaking CGPA of 3.37/ 4.00.
Thereby breaking a record of scoring above 3.24 in the history of the faculty, last highest grade in the school.
She has promised to give back to the society, especially the vulnerable children.
