Afrobeat singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has written to his colleague in the industry, Oyindamola Johnson Emmanuel, a.k.a. Dammy Krane, over an alleged defamatory posts on social media.
Davido, through his lawyer, Chikaosolu Ojukwu, stated that Dammy Krane defamed him in several posts on his X (formerly Twitter) page @dammy_krane, and had asked for retraction and also demanded that the artist desist from further posts.
This is coming few hours to the wedding date between Davido and Chioma-the two lovebirds, reports said, will be having the final stage of their marriage ceremony on the 25th of June, 2024.
However, in the letter dated June 21, Davido demanded that Dammy Krane, within 24 hours, remove and retract the offensive posts from all his social media pages. It also asked the singer to immediately refrain from further posting defamatory statements against the complainant on any platform.
The letter electronically sent to Dammy Krane titled, "NOTICE OF DEFAMATORY PUBLICATION AND DEMAND FOR IMMEDIATE RETRACTION."
Condemning Dammy Krane's posts, Ojukwu said in the letter, "Your conduct in publishing these statements, despite knowing them to be false, is not only malicious but also orchestrated to defame and injure the reputation of our client, a globally recognized music star. Such actions constitutes a civil breach as well as infraction of the relevant criminal laws."
According to the letter, Davido demanded that Dammy Krane, within 24 hours, should remove and retract all the defamatory statements from all his social media platforms and also to cease from further posting such forthwith.
The letter added, "TAKE NOTICE that your failure to comply with these demands within the stipulated timeframe will compel our client to pursue all available legal remedies, including but not limited to initiating legal proceedings against you for damages and injuctive relief, and escalating this matter to the relevant law enforcement agencies."
