2023 Guber Polls: God Has Vindicated You, Embrace All As Your Own - Mogaji Adanla Urges Makinde

A popular Ibadan based Islamic leader, the Turaki Adini of Oyo state and Wakil Faido Tijaniya of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta, Engr Abduljelyl Adekunle Karheem Mogaji Adanla has appealed to governor Seyi Makinde to forgive and forget about political events that preceded the just concluded governorship election in the state and embrace all.

The Turaki also stated that a man who is already vindicated by God has nothing to prove to men, also said Makinde only needs to continue on the path of equity, fairness and justice to all regardless of tribe or religion which has endeared him to the common man on the street and has translated to unprecedented and overwhelming electoral victory.

Mogaji Adanla made the disclosure in a press statement made available to journalists on Saturday morning in Ibadan, urging people in position of leadership to be well guided in their utterances so and teachings as their conducts and expressions carry weight that could impact on their followers negatively or positively.

Adanla, who made inferences to the Holy Quran maintained that the ways of God are not the ways of men stressing that regardless of any exalted position man may occupy, he should never play God who alone, can enthrone or dethrone any king as well as give power to whoever He pleases.

It was gathered that Adanla was reacting to a congratulatory message by the Chairman of Oyo State Muslim Community, Alhaji Kunle Sanni to Engr Seyi Makinde following the governor’s landslide victory at the just concluded election.

Prior to the governorship election, Alhaji Sanni had castigated governor Makinde severally while accusing the governor of being an anti Islam and implementing policies and programs that negate and violate rights of Muslims in the state, and consequently campaigned vigorously against the governor’s reelection.

Alhaji Sanni had specifically urged Muslims in the state to vote out Seyi Makinde who is a Christian and vote for another particular candidate who according to the cleric is a Muslim brother.

The position of Alhaji Sanni which was not acceptable to the generality of the Muslim community in the state considering what was described as Makinde’s humane and friendliness to the Muslim community saw different Islamic leaders and scholars including Mogaji Adanla warning against mixing up religion with politics and urging electorates to vote their consciences.

Adanla was quoted as saying in one of his press statements prior to the election as saying no governor in the history of the state has benefited the Muslim community more than Governor Makinde while making references to the the newly reconstructed state of the art Adogba mosque, Ibadan central mosque at Oja’ba and others under the Makinde led government.

In Adanla’s words: “The same people that openly campaigned against Engr Seyi Makinde using religion as a political tool to blackmail his government have humbled themselves enough to congratulate him on his victory.

“This is the sweetness of success and we’re very grateful to Almighty Allah that the good people of Oyo state are wiser and more politically conscious of events as affecting them directly to decide what is good or not for them as well as who their leaders should be.

“There’s no gainsaying that sovereign power in Oyo state has finally returned to the people as against the old order where the pecuniary interests of few are superimposed on the generality of the populace as collective interests. We will continue to get better as a people and I’m sure governor Seyi Makinde will do even much more than in his second term than his first.

“Alhamdulilahi the truth prevailed against falsehood. We forgive all those who tried to deploy divisive tools using religion as their baits. In the spirit of this Holy month of Ramadan we forgive you all.”
