This habit of love sharing has been the habit of a self funded and reputable charity organization in Ibadan, the southwest of Nigeria.
Christiana George Foundation was established during the Covid-19 lockdown in Nigeria. It was established to support widows, rape victims, fibroid patients and the girl child. The President of the Foundation, Ambassador Ayo George spoke with journalists recently and had this to say.
“We created the Foundation in 2021, we were just coming out of the lockdown, and we decided, that is my Trustees and I, to lend a hand of support to as many women as we can, seeing that women and children are always the most vulnerable at times of wars or pandemics. So our first outreach was in 2021 during the Valentine celebration, and since then, it became a norm at the foundation to celebrate Valentine as such”. He said.
“In 2021, the foundation reached out to 100 widows, in 2022, the outreach was to 200 widows, and on the 14th of February 2023, the outreach will be for 300 widows. The outreach this year will feature Blood Sugar Tests, Blood Pressure Tests, Breats Cancer Tests and distribution of raw food stuff. We are open to support from well meaning Nigerians that are also willing to celebrate that day with our mothers”. He concluded.
