Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has congratulated the winner of yesterday's (Tuesday) governorship primary, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The governor in a state broadcast this afternoon, said, the dust raised by the political happenings within the state in the past few days, should be put behind.
That he believes strongly that the time has come for the state to move forward. He also believe that interest of Lagos State always supersedes that of any person or group.
He therefore called on Lagosians, party faithfuls to support the party's candidate in the 2019 elections and work on the success of the party.
He also promised to ensure a smooth transition of power in the remaining period of his administration and to the new governor come May 2019.
Ambode also used the medium in thanking the National Leader of APC, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu and the leadership of the party at both state and national level for their support.
Chairman of the Electoral Panel appointed by the party’s National Working Committee, Clement Ebri, on Wednesday declared Babajide Sanwoolu as the winner of the Lagos governorship primaries held on Tuesday.
Sanwoolu, in a direct primary election, polled a total of 970,851 votes while Ambode scored 72,901 votes.
