As the League of Veteran Journalists Oyo state concludes plans for its much worked out event to mark the 25th Anniversary of the June 12, 1993 Presidential Election, the League has lauded the Federal government for giving honour to the acclaimed winner of the election, Chief MKO Abiola.
The senior Journalists in a statement signed by its spokesman, Dr. Bayo Busari said the body has been working tirelessly to ensure the sustenance of the spirit of the election adjudged to be the freest and best in the political history of Nigeria.
This year's lecture, coming up on Tuesday, is to continue to implant the event in the consciousness of Nigerians and lovers of democracy around the world.
Busari said one of the leading figures in the fight against military domination of the political system at the height of the inglorious despotic rule of the late Gen. Sanni Abacha, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will lead others at the event.
The governor of Oyo state, Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi is expected to be the chief host.
A former speaker of Oyo state House of Assembly, Chief Akin Onigbinde, SAN is the Guest Speaker on the topic: Nigeria's Democracy: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.
Dignitaries expected to grace the occasion include Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, Hon. Temitope Olatoye, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige, Oloye, Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli, Engr. Seyi Makinde and, Chief Adebayo Adelabu and many others

The Abiola family will be represented by Alhaji Kola Abiola, the eldest son of MKO, Mrs. Hafsat Costello Abiola, daughter of late Kudirat Abiola who also paid the supreme sacrifice in the struggle to actualise the election result, and Alhaji Sufi Kazeem.
The event will hold at the Dapo Aderogba Hall, NUJ Press Center Iyaganku, Ibadan at 11.00 am on Tuesday, 12th June, 2018
