Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State is blessed with several successful women who are doing wonderfully well for themselves across different sectors of the country. By the way, what qualifies one to be a successful woman? A successful woman must be positive, must have the best of character, strong-minded, soft-hearted, intelligent, a balanced lifestyle, a goal getter, must be a great teacher, loving, peaceful and must have integrity. All these traits and many more make one a success story in life. So as we have successful men around so also are successful women who are the best at what they do. In this special report, City People’s Dare Adeniran presents to you list of Ibadan born top celebrity women and their success story. Their family background and influence in the society. Interestingly, not many people know that some of these people are Ibadan indigenes. They are set of people with powerful connections not only in their chosen career, but also in the social circle. Alhaja Aninat Abiodun.
The Iyalode of Ibadan land, Alhaja Aminat Abiodun could be best described as a strong woman, a successful businesswoman and role model to many. She is the 13th Iyalode Ibadan has produced. For many decades now, Alhaja Aminat Abiodun has been around and still very active despite her age. She became Jagun Iyalode of Ibadan land in 1971 and she rose through the ladders to get to her present position. She has been waxing stronger and stronger as a businesswoman and as a celebrity. She is very prominent in Ibadan social establishment.

Chief (Mrs.) Nike Akande.
Talk of successful women in the country then Chief (Mrs.) Onikepo Akande’s name must come up. She is the lovely wife of the Ibadan based Splash F.M radio station Chairman, Chief Adebayo Akande, the Agbaakin Olubadan of Ibadan land. She is a two-term minister and boardroom guru. In fact, she has an intimidating c.v; she is the first female Minister of Industry and present President, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry. She is well ready and exposed; a product of Harvard Business School and many educational qualifications. Onikepo Akande, OON, CON, is a mother and role model to many. She is in her 70s.  

Chief (Mrs.) Joko Oni.
The name Joko Oni needs little or no introduction in business world and on the social scene. She controls enormous respect in the society especially through her hard work and consistency. Her Gold Rush business name has also become a strong brand and a household name across all sectors. She is married to an Insurance Broker, Chief. Kunle Oni. Joko Oni understands the social circle like the palm of her hand; she dazzles at parties and major parties in the country are uncompleted without her presence. She is connected to virtually all the who-is-who in the society.   

Chief (Mrs) Olayinka Ladoja.
The ever stylish Mutiat Olayinka Ladoja is the wife of the former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja. Apart from being a successful businesswoman, she is also a politician. Her ‘Idera De Foundation’, the pet-project she formed while her husband was still governor of the state is her signature and sign of her love for the less privilege. She is from the popular Isale-Osi compound in Ibadan.  

Chief (Mrs.) Olanrewaju Otiti-Adedeji.
She is one of the prominent and successful daughters of Ibadan land. The businesswoman cum politician is into Oil & Gas and has made success of her business connection. She is the Laaguna Iyalode of Ibadan land in her 60s.

Chief (Mrs.) Saratu Lam Adesina.
The wife of the late ‘Great Lam’ as the former Governor of Oyo State, Ibadan strong politician and leader of the APC in the state, Alhaji Onaolapo Lamidi Adesina was fondly called in the political corridor in his lifetime, is very humble, cool and calm. While her late husband was the governor many people related with and treated her like a mother because of her cool mien. She is a successful businesswoman.

Chief (Mrs,) Folashade Akinlabi-Arowolo.
Fashad as she is popular called is a woman of great style and excellent character. Despite her status as rich and famous business woman, she is still very cool and calm. You can never hear unnecessary noise around her meanwhile she is a queen in her line of business. She is a big brand in textile business in Gbagi International Market, Ibadan. She also plays big in the property business.  

Ms Funmi Omitowoju.
For many years, Funmi Omitowoju has been proving her worth as a career woman and she is well respected in that sphere. From being an astute banker to the telecommunication world then Insurance, Funmi Omitowoju has seen it all in the corporate circle of this country. She is no doubt one of the successful women in Nigeria and one of the brilliant female indigenes of Ibadan land.  

Ambassador Ibironke Adefowope.
She is the daughter of founder of the great Omolewa Nursery & Primary School in Ibadan, Late Mrs. Vaughan. Apart from her rich background, Ibironke Adefowope has been able to cut a niche for herself. She is well read and a great promoter of African social, cultural, economic and diplomatic interests. She served as Nigerian ambassador to Zambia and Malawi between 1999-2003.  

Chief Jumoke Akinjide.
Her family is very prominent in Ibadan. She is highly intelligent and a first class product of Harvard University. Her father, Chief Richard Akinjide is a legal luminary and one of the respected men not only in Ibadan but Nigeria generally. Everything about the former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Tertiary, FCT, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide exhumes brain and academics. She is a politician of note.

Dame Abimbola Fashola.
The wife of the former Governor of Lagos State and the serving Minister of power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), Abimbola Fashola is from the popular Ojo-Ibadan family. She is doing well and has over years a role model to many young women out there.

Princess Folashade Olufunke Bankole.
Folashade Olufunke, in her late 50s, is the lovely daughter of the immediate past Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade. She has rising to the post of a General Manager in the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).

Hon. Folake Olunloyo-Oshinowo.
She is the niece of the former Governor of Oyo State Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo and the former honourable who represented ‎Ibadan South West/North West in the national House of Reps. Folake has made her presence felt in the political arena and she is one of the young females Ibadan politicians to recorn with. She is married to a popular Lagos socialite, Tunde Oshinowo aka Teddyshine. 
Dunni Olunloyo.
She is another niece of Dr. Olunloyo and business wonam of note. She runs a blossoming beauty store in Abuja.
 
Taofeekat.
Alhaja Taofikat  as she fondly called in Ibadan social circuit runs a successful textile business at Gbagi market. She recently dassled everyone as she opend a multi million naira hotel, located in the highbrow Ikolaba GRA. She is one of the young successful businesswomen around

Kemi Olunloyo.
No matter the angle you may want access the controversial Olunloyo daughter, Kemi, one thing you can never take away from her is the brain. She is highly brilliant. She is a successful journalist; an international one at that, a presenter, an activist and a social media practitioner. 

Funke Olunloyo.
‎She is Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo's younger sister and former Special Adviser to the executive Governor of Oyo State, Senator Isiak Abiola Ajimobi. 

Mrs. Olubukola Saliu-Adekunle.
She is the beautiful daughter of the  Olubadan designate, High Chief Saliu Akanmu Adetunji. She married to top music icon, Alhaji Suleman Alao Adekunle (Malaika).

Fatimoh Alao.
The first daughter of  late business mogul‎, Alhaji Abdulazees Alao-Arisekola, Fatimoh is a successful business woman. She is based in Abuja and doing wonderfully well for herself.

Jelilat Folarin.
She is the elder sister of Ibadan top politician and prominent chief, Senator Teslim Kola Folarin. Though she shuttles between London and Nigeria‎, but her business connection is wide. She is one of the respected women in Ibadan.
