Niger Assembly Speaker, Adamu Usman, Deputy Impeached.

Report coming in from Niger State has it that the Speaker of the state house of assembly, Honourable Adamu Usman is being impeached.

The speaker was impeached on Tuesday and it also affected his deputy, Honourable Abdulrahman Bala Gambo.

The leadership of the House was sacked by 21 out of the 27 members that make up the House of Assembly.

There was confusion earlier in the day when forces believed to be loyal to the Governor, Dr. Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu locked up the assembly to prevent the lawmakers from gaining access following feelers that a plot to impeach Governor Aliyu had been hatched.

The lawmakers however defied the prevention measures as they broke the padlock on the door of the complex.
