Reports emerged Wednesday (yesterday) after Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan, indicated that the Federal Government has changed its mind over the May 28 handing over, as it was earlier announced.
You will recall that the issue has been generating a lot of controversy since it was announced that President Jonathan will handover to the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, on May 28 against the official May 29 date, which is the country's 'Democracy Day'.
Some argued that the moves is likely to create a kind of vacuum in the seat of power.
But while addressing journalists after the meeting, the Information Minister, Patricia Akwashiki denied ever telling anyone that President Jonathan will hand over on May 28. She said she was being misunderstood as per the handing over date.
That what she said was that the process of handover notes would be completed by May 28.
She therefore stated that Jonathan would not hand over power until May 29 when handing over and inauguration ceremony will hold.
