Light Out For Senator Uche Chukwumerieje At 75.

Senator Uche chukwumerieje, former Minister of Information and the Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, is dead.

He was said to have died of lung cancer on Sunday evening, 19th April, 2015, at the age of 75.

Chukwumerieje, Chairman, Senate Committee on Education, who served as the Minister for Information towards the end of the Babangida administration died today in a hospital in Abuja.

He also served as the Minister for Information in the Ernest Shonekan-led Interim National Government that ruled Nigeria between August and November 1993.

Chukwumerije was serving his third term as Senator, having been first elected in 2003. He was re-elected in 2007 and 2011.
