President Goodluck Jonathan has on Monday reacted to the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari's claim to look into the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)'s alleged unremitted $20 billion into the Federation account.
Jonathan, who spoke through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, said that he is not afraid of any investigation after leaving office. He noted that investigations will not be out of place since Jonathan’s administration also reviewed the actions of previous governments on assumption of office.
He therefore ordered for immediate release of the PriceWater Cooper's forensic audit report of the said fund.
Jonathan's reaction came after APC spokesperson, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in one of his recent statements, confirmed the readiness of the General Muhammed Buhari's in-coming administration to probe some of the activities of the outgoing administration, especially the alleged NNPC missing fund.
Recall that the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor and now Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, was suspended by President Jonathan last year after he alleged that the NNPC failed to remit more than $20 billion of oil revenue to the government.
