Bayo Aborisade, a professor of English from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA, had an awesome party on Saturday. It was his 70th birthday and retirement luncheon.
The milestone celebration held at the premises of FUTA had in attendance, the who-is-who from academia, business, social and other sectors.
Professor Olorode delivered a powerful birthday lecture to the amazement of the invited guests.
Aborisade deserves all the accolades, honor showered on him in the cause of the celebration. Having achieved so much in his career and private life.
He graduated with B.A English from University of Ife (1978), M.A. Comparative Literature, University of Port Harcourt (1982) and Phd, African Literature also from Obafemi Awolowo University, ile-ife (1988).
Aborisade received training in communicative teaching and learning methods through the British council training schools in Nigeria and UK.
He graduated with B.A. English language and Phd African literature but has trained as english for academic purposes, strategist and leader in blended learning and integration of technologies into the curriculum.
He was project officer for the British Council/NUC communication skills project for universities of technology in Nigeria between 1989 and 1993.
Aborisade pioneered the english language teaching today journal and the national association of teachers and researchers in english as a second language (natresl).
He was recipient of the hornby scholarship in 1994 and the commonwealth commission academic staff fellowship in 2007/2008 when he was a visiting senior research fellow, University of Sussex, Brighton, UK.
The highly revered Aborisade currently leads the FUTA blended learning research group (blrg) promoting the campus-wide introduction and uptake of learning technologies.
He also acted as the director of FUTA advancement centre. He has presented in his main areas of research interest (eap, blended learning, technologies in the classroom) around Africa, UK, US and Canada.
