Sanwo-Olu appoints new Deputy Chief of Staff 13 days after Gboyega Soyannwo's death

The governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has named Sam Ebube as the new Deputy Chief of Staff. This came following the death of former occupier of the post, Gboyega Soyannwo who passed away on Wednesday, 16 May, 2024. He was 55. Special Adviser to Governor Sanwo-Olu on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile confirmed the development in a post on his social media page. Ebube, prior to the new appointment, was Commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning.

Erisco: Court reminds Chioma Okoli for defamation

Following her arraignment for alleged defamation against Erisco Foods Limited, a Federal High Court in Abuja remanded Chioma Okoli in custody. Hearing the two allegations that were filed against her, Ms. Chioma denied any misconduct Tuesday in front of trial judge Peter Lifu. Under Nigeria's Cybercrime Act, she is facing charges. To make a decision regarding the defendant's bail request, Mr. Lifu postponed the lawsuit to Friday, May 31st. He placed the accused under detention in custody until the outcome of the bail hearing. During the bail request hearing on Tuesday, Inibehe Effiong, the attorney for Ms. Okoli, provided a medical report and contended that his client miscarried due to the psychological distress she had as a result of the case. However, Ms. Okoli's attorney for the prosecution, Abdulrashid Sidi, implored the judge to deny her request for release. He argued that the accused person might breach bail.
