But for the ministerial presentations on the achievements of the President Bola Tinubu administration in its first year, christened Ministerial Sectoral Update, which began on Tuesday May 21 at the National Press Centre in Abuja, many may not have known or appreciated the quantum of work that has been done by the government within such a short period of one year in office. This piece is not really about the re-engineering work that is being done on the economy, which is now recording a gradual growth. Certificate scandal trails sacked EKEDC MD, Tinuade Sanda

A former managing director and chief executive officer of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), Tinuade Sanda is currently enmeshed in a certificate scandal. Details of the scandal were captured in a report by TheCable. Where it was reported that most of the educational records claimed to have been acquired by Sanda are allegedly false. Sanda was sacked by Eko Disco and West Power and Gas (WPG) Limited within a month. She was appointed the managing director of Eko Disco in March 2022, becoming the third woman to hold the position in the company-after Funke Osibodu of Benin Disco (2013) and Folake Soetan of Ikeja Electric (2020). According to the report, the firm launched an internal investigation into Sanda who claimed to have been educated across the world, two years after her appointment. Supreme Court gives states 7 days to file defence over LG autonomy suit

Following a lawsuit filed by the Federal Government against them, the 36 state governors of Nigeria have been asked by the Supreme Court of Nigeria to submit their individual defenses. For each of the nation's 774 local governments, the federal government wants complete authority. Additionally, after receiving their defense, the court directed Lateef Fagbemi, the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), to file his reply within two days. AGF's appeal for abridgment of time was decided by Justice Garba Lawal, who presided over a seven-member panel and made the order. According to Justice Lawal, the court's ruling was based on the suit's national urgency and the Attorneys General of the Federation's member states' lack of objection. The Supreme Court ruled that all paperwork must be filed and exchanged on time, and it set June 13 as the date for the suit's hearing. Court bars 25 lawmakers from parading themselves as Rivers Assembly members

An interlocutory injunction prohibiting 25 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly from parading themselves as House members has been issued by a Rivers State High Court located in Port Harcourt. On December 13, 2023, the 25 legislators under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, who were faithful to Chief Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). The factional Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon.
