Author of a new book titled 'My Journey With Barry Wonder', Tunde Busari, has declared that the late fuji act, Dr Sikiru Ayinde Balogun (Barrister) was evidence of hard work and relentless efforts which led his fuji music to limelight it enjoys today.
Busari, who is founder of TeeTee Management Limited, publisher of TheTabloid.net, said his research, which covered many years of Barrister's career, had revealed that he was conscious of challenges ahead as bearer of a new genre, hence his continous and progressive work on himself and his music to break monopoly enjoyed by older genres.
"Results of those efforts are seen in many evergreen records he released, all of which still are like hot cake in the market. I hardly join public debate about Barrister because the best scarcely win at that forum. That is why I listened to calls by my readers and friends who urged me to write my perspective of Barrister, based on their understanding of my special interest in his music. In other words, I wouldn't have decided to write this book," he said.
Busari also stated that Barrister's status in fuji genre had elevated him to a faith which commands a large congregation 11 years after he had left the stage.
"Can you believe it that over 10 different groups sprang up after his death, each of which, on daily basis, propagate his songs and beats of on social media? That development, to me, is unprecedented. And when these people see in you what you probably don't see in yourself and assign you this task of a book, a man of honour should consider it a privilege. That's the background to this book, and I thank every fan of Barrister for their selfless service to immortalise him," he said.
According to Busari, the book is divided into 14 chapters, each of which, he stressed, tells different stories beyond what public know about Barrister and about the author too.
He said there are others who know more about Barrister and, therefore, called them to also document their experience for reading public.
"I have no monopoly of knowledge on Barrister. Never! I'm, therefore, asking others to write. My book is a compliment to those earlier published by three authors pioneered by Media Consultant to Barrister, Elder Dayo Odeyemi. To me, it is the 'many the merrier' to give general public opportunity to see Barrister from different angles, he concluded.
