Oyo Government Awards N10bn Eleyele-Eruwa Road, Tolds town Hall Meeting On Tuesday.

The Oyo State Government has approved the reconstruction of Ibadan-Eleyele Junction-Akufo Junction – Eruwa road at the cost of N10,396,614,557.49.

Similarly, in furtherance of its people centred communication, engagement and feedback strategy, aimed at providing a platform to continuously update the citizenry on Government’s policies, programmes and activities, the state government has said that it will hold another town hall meeting on Tuesday, January 10 by 11.00am at Omajid Events Centre, Akinmorin Road, Oyo Town for the people of Oyo and Ogbomoso zones.   

The Commissioner for Information, Mr. Toye Arulogun, who made these disclosures in a statement on Thursday in Ibadan, explained that the executive council of the state gave the approval at the last Exco meeting, saying that the reconstruction of the 58km road would be executed in sections.

The commissioner noted that section A of the road that covers Eleyele junction-Akufo junction which is 10km would cost N3,711,505,235.61 while section B, the 48km Akufo Junction to Eruwa would cost N6,685,109,321.88, adding that the project, which will be funded by the federal  government infrastructural development loan and internal generated revenue, would be handled by Messrs. Chinese Global Development and Construction Company. 

The government spokesman explained that infrastructure is one of the key areas of this administration, saying that the government would continue to provide physical and social infrastructure to empower our citizenry for productive engagement in their preferred but legitimate economic endeavours.

“Government is committed to the continued provision and maintenance of a functional network of roads that will enhance socio -economic growth throughout the State.   Government successfully constructed and rehabilitated many roads in the past and we will continue to do so,” he stressed.

Mr. Arulogun stated that the town hall meeting in Oyo Town is coming on the heels of earlier public engagements held in Ibadan and Saki recently by Governor Abiola Ajimobi to intimate the publics of government policies, programmes and activities.
