The Oyo State Government has reiterated its commitment to support the entertainment industry in the State, by providing the support structure and enabling environment for the industry to thrive.
This was disclosed by the State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Toye Arulogun, while receiving members of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) on behalf of the State Governor at the State Secretariat, Ibadan on Thursday.
He pledged government’s support and commitment to the development and growth of the arts, culture and entertainment industries, noting that, their activities and operations have huge potentials in contributing to the economy of the state.
“The State government sees TAMPAN as an integral part of its socio-cultural existence and will do everything to add value to its operating structure and environment. We are poised to be in the lead in the fight against piracy and the structuring of the entertainment industry. In a matter of weeks, an entertainment industry support desk will be available in the ministry to facilitate the much needed win - win relationship between government and the entertainment industry,” Arulogun added.
Arulogun further pledged the support of the Oyo State government towards the 2016 Theatre week being celebrated by TAMPAN.
Earlier, TAMPAN’s leader in Oyo state, Mrs. Rose Odika, said the visit was to intimate government about the association’s annual Theatre week and solicits government’s support and participation.
While announcing the investiture of the state Governor, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi as its grand patron, Mrs. Odika also thanked the state government and the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism for their support.
