Meet APC Candidate For Ondo Guber Race, Rotimi Akeredolu. +Plus His Impressive C.V

It is no longer news that Barr. Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) who emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC)'s Ondo State primary election has finally being ratified by the national leadership of the party as its flag-bearer in the upcoming November 26 governorship election. Akeredolu polled the total of 669 to defeat other candidates.

Though some were dazed by Akeredolu's performance in the shadow election, while some, especially those who contested the primary with him, believed he (Akeredolu) couldn't have won on a plain-levelled ground, which he did. But what they failed to understand however, is that Akeredolu is very familiar with politics. He has been directly or indirectly  involved in it all these while.

Even in his school days he was very active. He was Vice President of Students Union of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) between 1975-1976.

Born in Owo, Ondo State, as Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, on 21st July, 1956, to the families of Rev. J. Ola Akeredolu of the popular Akeredolu family in Owo, Owo Local Government and Lady Evang. Grace B. Akeredolu of the Aderoyiju family in Igbotu, Ese-Odo Local Government, Ondo State.

His Educational Background.
He attended Government Primary School, Owo and Aquinas College Akure then later to Loyola College, Ibadan. From where he proceeded to the Comprehensive High School, Ayetoro for his (HSC).
Then to the Obafemi Awolowo University (O.A.U), Ile-Ife where he studied Law. He followed up at the Nigerian Law School and was called to bar in 1978.
He was confirmed as Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in 1998.

His Legal Career.
Barr. Rotimi Akeredolu ESQ,SAN, has proved his mettle as a legal icon-he is the former Secretary, Nigerian Bar Association, Ibadan branch between 1985-1986. He is a member, National Executive Committee of Nigerian Bar Association from 1985 till date.
Akeredolu served as National Publicity Secretary, Nigerian Bar Association between 1988-1989. He was a member of the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria 1989 to 1991 and Vice Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association, Ibadan Branch in 1991.
Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association, Ibadan Branch between 1992 and 1994; Attorney-General, Commissioner For Justice, Ondo State, 1997 to 1999 and member of Ondo State Judicial Service Commission and also a meember Council of Legal Education for the same period.
He was Chairman, Legal Aid Council of Nigeria between 2005 and 2006. President, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA); Member, Council of Legal Education; member Governing Council Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies; Council Member of the International Bar Association and Council Member, Pan African Lawyers Union between 2008- 2010. He was also a Member, National Judicial Council between 2010 to 2012.

He the National Secretary-General of Loyola College Old Boys' Association between 1995-1999; member of the Oyo State Football Association between 1992 and 1994; Associate Member Nigerian Red Cross Society, Oyo State Branch; Patron, The Law Society Faculty of Law, University of Lagos; Patron, Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN); Patron, Law Student Society, Adekunle Ajasin University; Patron, Sport Writers Association of Nigeria, Oyo State Chapter; Chancellor, Owo Anglican Diocese and Life Member, Body of Benchers.

Awards.
Obafemi Awolowo University Alumni Association, Ibadan Branch, Merit Award in 1994; Sport Writers Association of Nigeria, Oyo State Chapter Legal Adviser Award in 1995; Law Students Society, OAU's Distinguished Ife Law Alumnus Award; Nigerian Bar Association Award in recognition of the conferment of the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria-1998; Nigerian Bar Association, Akure Branch-Award of Excellence in recognition as Consistent, Fiery and Fearless Human Rights Advocate Per Excellence; Loyola College Ibadan, Old Boys Association Alumni Merit Award in 1999; Law Students' Society, University of Ilorin, Merit Award in recognition of contribution to legal profession and legal education; Law Students' Society, OAU, Award of Merit As Advocate of Repute in 2005; Great Ife Alumni Association, National Award 2007- Officer of Grea Ife (OGI); Owo Community Advisory Committee, Owo Merit Award; Owo Anglican Diocese Diocesan of The Year Award-2013; Ibadan Anglican Diocese Honours Award-2014; Qatar Law Forum Award of Global Leader in Law-2009 and Nigerian Legal Awards-Life Achievement Award-2010.

Political Career.
He was the gubernatorial candidate of ACN, Ondo State in 2012. Chairman, APC Harmonisation Committee, Ondo State in 2014. A member APC Presidential Election Council in 2015 and now the APC gubernatorial candidate, Ondo State.

He is happily married to Mrs. Betty Chioma Akeredolu (Nee Anyanwu) of Emeabiam Owerri West Local Government and their marriage is blessed with lovely kids.

He loves  Lawn Tennis, Football and Singing.
