All Set For Oranyan Festival 2016! Details Of Activities For The Historical Event Revealed.

Just like the past years since the commencement of the historic Oranyan Festival celebration, lots of different cultural activities have already been earmarked for the 5th edition of the festival. In fact, it won't be out of contest to say this year edition promises to be more colourful than the previous as the event keeps improving every year.

The festival, conceived by Alaafin 5 years ago and solely packaged by Princess Folasade Adeyemi's cultural platform (Arewa House of Culture), has been serving as bridge between the traditionalists and the society generally.

The enthusiasm for culture, tradition and value of the Yoruba race in Princess Folasade played a major role in making the maiden edition a success story and since then it has been no stopping.

The festival will hold from 3rd September to 10th September, 2016, at Aganju Court, Alaafin of Oyo Palace, Oyo, Oyo State.

Programes for this year edition however include the Festival Float/ Musical Entertainment by different Fuji musicians from Oyo, which comes up on Saturday 3rd September, 2016.

Sunday 4th, there would be promotion live television program (Eyi Ara) at the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOSV) then the train will later visit Cultural Center, Ibadan.

International Press Conference holds on Monday 5th September.

Tuesday 6th, Yoruba Quiz Competition/ Musical Entertainment by Oyo based Fuji Musicians.

On Wednesday 7th of September, there would be Opening of Art&Crafts and Exhibition then musical entertainment later that day. While Thursday 8th is going to be Youth Cultural Day.

Friday 9th, It would be Gbegiri, the interesting delicacy of Oyo people and Diaspora Day. Which is proudly sponsored by Trophy.

Saturday 10th, which is the grand finale of the event is Oranyan Day/Royal Reception.

Oranyan Festival is an event which attracts not only the sons and daughters of Oyo to the town but thousands of Traditionalists, art/crafts experts, culture promoters as well as tourists from far and wide annually. They come as far as U.S, Brazil, France, Trinidad and Tobago, Republic of Benin to mention but few.

Celebrator and the chief host of the great Oranyan Festival is the Alaafin of Oyo HRM, Oba Lamidi Atanda Adeyemi 111.

It is an event set aside to celebrate the leadership qualities of Oranyan, a warrior and a leader, who was one of the sons of Oduduwa and acclaimed founder of old Oyo Empire. Who established an enduring political structure for civil and military administration in Africa.

It is also a channel through which Yoruba culture and traditions are being promoted. By uplifting and preserving it, in showcasing the core value of the Yoruba race generally.

Meanwhile, apart from the fact that Oranyan Festival preaches peace, attract tourism investors and promote Yoruba culture, one main befit of the festival is that during this period, economy of the state normally experience a boom. Hotels in capital city of the state, Oyo town as well as adjoining towns will be booked, small businesses will sell, traporters will also make good money.
