Newly Created LCDAs: Greek Gift, Ill-Timed- Oyo SDP.

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Oyo State has described the newly created Local Council Development Authority as Greek gift and ill-timed initiative.

The party, in a release signed by its Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Akeem Azeez, described the move by the Oyo State Government as confusing and showed a government who is more than often desperate to attempt to justify non payment of backlogs of salary, arrears and pension which the APC government claimed was due to lack of fund and yet created more LCDAs.

SDP described the APC government as classical example of a quack Doctor Who leave leprosy to cure eczema " or how best to describe this misappropriation of priority with untenable guise of bringing development to the grassroots. 'One is pressed to ask how many developmental projects have been completed in the 33 local government areas of the state in the last five years that APC has been in government in the state?.

"It is Ill-timed due to the fact that the state is bleeding on account of non-payment of salary to workers and pensioners. 'How would the newly created LCDA get take-off grants from a state that can not meet up with his financial obligations to workers, contractors and the citizens.

Alhaji Akeem explained further that it is greek gift to hoodwink unsuspecting members of the public to regain its long lost positive image and credible perception among members of the public. This should be discarded and disapprove by the good people of Oyo State.

He pointed out that when the APC led government ought to be looking for way out from the current financial entrapment it caused itself. They are busy starting what will further compounds the financial woes of the state as new LCDAs will need fund to cater for staff and other political appointees.

Alhaji Akeem Azeez said it quite unfortunate that Oyo state that prides itself as Political and intellectual capital of Yorubas through pacesetting initiatives in the recent past have been reduced to copy and paste enclave. This is so because not until Osun started Yes-O that Oyo State also copied and pasted Yes-o in the state. The LCDA idea was also copy from Lagos State.

He however cautioned that Oyo State is not financially buoyant as Lagos and could not meet the financial obligations of a bloated 68 local council areas at this time.

The real estate sector in Oyo State, especially Ibadan, the capital city, is currently experiencing what could best be described as a mega boom. Thanks to the few investors who saw the vision years back and keyed into it by contributing their quotas to the development of the sector. Kudos also to the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration in the state for creating an enabling environment (the successive governments couldn't be excused from the success story too). Not only has Makinde's administration created an enabling environment, it has introduced some investors-friendly policies, and as well undertook partnerships that had really helped in bringing about the unprecedented developments in the sector. This has also created room for options for those who are interested in both luxury and low cost estates. Its also explains reasons for the many real estate projects (both completed and ongoing) all over the place. There are developments and construction almost everywhere in Ib
