Governor Ajimobi Speaks On Why PTS Must Be Restructured. As He Commends Companies On Tax Compliance.

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has said there would be a major shake-up in the Pace Setter Transport Services, (PTS), operators of the mass transit buses in the State.

This he declared was part of the state government’s efforts at restructuring and re-engineering the state’s public service for enhanced productivity and increased revenue generation.

Speaking during an unscheduled visit to the Eleyele office of the transport company, the governor said that the reorganization of PTS became necessary as a result of the sterile methods in managing the transport service, lamenting that, the meager returns being derived from the place did not justify the government’s investment in the place.

While allaying the fears that the state government might intend to lay off members of staff at PTS, the governor assured them of government’s readiness to utilize the manpower at its disposal, as long as they exhibit signs of honesty and diligence at their duty-posts.

Senator Ajimobi noted that the Pace Setter Transport Service needed urgent re-engineering for better productivity and optimal performance, while urging staffers to display better work ethics, honesty and integrity in the discharge of their duties.

Meanwhile, the State government has commended firms and industries in the state for their compliance to the state government’s tax drive across the state.
Addressing the press after today’s Tax Enforcement, the Special Adviser to the Governor, Board of Internal Revenue, Mr. Biyi Oloko, said that the government was impressed by the peoples’ compliance to the new tax drive and large turnout in remittance of revenue to the state coffers.

According to him, “we must thank our people for their attitude towards the renewed tax regime. Companies and firms in the state are responding positively and their action is encouraging”

Also speaking, the head of the enforcement, Mr. Jide Sanwo, said that some of the companies visited today were sealed but reopened upon full payment.

He charged companies that have been given demand notices to remit their dues into the government’s purse, saying that, the revenue being generated would be used in developing the state and give the people dividends of democracy.
