Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attairu Jega while reacting to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Sulaiman Abbah's 'vote and go home' order on a T.V program on Friday, had said there is nothing wrong in voters monitoring their votes.
The IGP has expressed fears that there is likelihood of electoral violence if voters are allowed to wait for the votes to be counted after casting their vote on the elections day. But Jega declared that there is no part of Electoral Law retrains voters from waiting at the polling booths, that the law is only against loitering. He said that so far they comport themselves accordingly; for not formenting troubles, there is no crime in voters waiting for their votes to be counted.
